The guys are loading up, getting the truck ready, and heading out for another day of helping homeowners.

Soil be shrinkin’….especially that Texas clay if this heat keeps up! 🥵☀️

It may look like rock, but what Van is holding is actually Texas clay dug from the holes on one of our current foundation repair projects.

During long stretches of hot, dry weather, clay loses moisture and enters a contracted state…shrinking, hardening, and potentially reducing the support beneath a home. When you have something as heavy as a foundation sitting on top, that loss of soil support can contribute to settlement and foundation movement.

Yikes. 😳

If your home is starting to show signs of stress like sheetrock cracks, brick cracks, sticking doors or windows, or doors and windows that just aren’t operating like they used to …it may be time to have your foundation evaluated.

🔥 FOUNDATION TIP OF THE DAY 🔥

With 100°+ temps and little rain in the forecast, North Central Texas soil is drying out FAST.

💧 Grab those soaker hoses!

Consider running a soaker hose around your foundation twice a day…once in the early morning and again in the evening. The goal is to help maintain consistent moisture around the foundation, not saturate the ground.

Texas clay soil expands when wet and shrinks when dry. Keeping moisture levels more consistent can help reduce the dramatic soil changes that contribute to foundation movement.

Meet Bob & Holly in Runaway Bay!

Last year, they trusted Carlton Foundation Solutions to address drainage concerns and help redirect water away from their home. From there, the plan was simple: give the foundation some time and keep an eye on it.

After noticing continued movement, they called us back. Unfortunately, the foundation was still active, so Bob & Holly trusted us once again! This time with their foundation repair.

Now the drainage is doing its job, the foundation is stabilized, and we couldn’t resist a crew picture after cleanup. 🙌

After years of evaluating foundations, we’ve seen just about everything.

Dogs. Cats. Chickens. Goats. Bearded dragons. Wildlife under homes. Skunks. Snakes. More spiders than we’d care to count.

About a decade ago, we even met a pig named Wilbert who lived inside the house and was convinced he was a dog. 🐷😂

But these two? We can honestly say they’re in a league of their own.

Today’s foundation evaluation in Peaster came with two gentle giants who made sure our Structural Analyst had plenty of company. Thankfully, they were just as friendly as they were massive.

Every home has a story. Sometimes it’s the foundation… and sometimes it’s the welcoming committee. 🐾🏡
