🎉 Congratulations to Los Altos School District on the groundbreaking of its new San Antonio Campus! We are excited to help bring this innovative TK–8 learning environment to life. QKA's Nick Stephenson and Justine Weigl attended the groundbreaking to celebrate this exciting milestone alongside the district and project team.

The new San Antonio Campus is a 70,000 SF TK-8 school designed to serve up to 608 students. The all-new campus combines the Folia Ecosystem prefabricated building solution with site-built construction to create a flexible, modern learning environment. The gym, restroom building, and athletic fields are joint use facilities shared with the City of Mountain View. The city assisted the district with the purchase of the site and has been an important partner throughout this project.

Project Highlights:

• 70,000 SF new TK-8 campus
• Six building campus
• 29 classrooms
• Administration wing, library, gymnasium, and MPR
• Athletic fields and outdoor learning spaces
• Joint use recreation facilities and 2 acre public park
• Delivered using the Folia Ecosystem prefabricated building solution
• Completion anticipated Fall 2028

Over the past five years, Aishwarya has made valuable contributions to projects including Garfield Elementary School, the Burlingame High School New Gym, and Gavilan College. We appreciate her hard work, expertise, and the positive impact she has made on our team. Chris Cundall and Nick Stephenson participated in a co****le tournament fundraiser for Engineers Without Borders. The event was held at Finley Community Park and raised over $10,000.

The donations will go toward helping communities in Peru design and build sustainable sources of clean drinking water. These systems are powered by rainwater and gravity, with no moving parts and minimal maintenance. The systems are owned and operated by the communities, which also help build them.

Joel Williams represented QKA as a panelist at the 2026 School Construction News Design & Construction Symposium in Denver, joining industry professionals for discussions focused on K12 and higher education design.

A highlight for Joel was hearing a new perspective on sustainability, defined not simply by reduced consumption, but by a building's ability to teach and inspire. He was also fascinated by a presentation and tour of Colorado's tallest mass timber project and looks forward to exploring opportunities to apply mass timber solutions in future projects.

🎉 Congratulations to Olivia Mae Asuncion on her 5 year work anniversary at QKA!

Over the past five years, Olivia has contributed to projects including Garfield Elementary School, El Granada Elementary School, and Sunnyvale Middle School. Alongside her project work, she is a recognized leader in advancing accessibility and inclusion within the architecture profession, helping create environments that are welcoming and accessible to all.

Olivia's impact extends beyond QKA through her service as an appointee to the United States Access Board, the California Building Standards Commission, and the California Commission on Disability Access. Through her advocacy, research, and mentorship, she continues to help remove barriers in the built environment and advance accessibility for all.

Her dedication has earned recognition including the 2025 AIA Young Architects Award and the San Francisco Business Times 2024 40 Under 40 honor.

🏫 Santa Rosa City Schools recently celebrated the completion of a new classroom building at Piner High School, marking an important milestone as the campus transitions to a comprehensive Junior/Senior High School model for the 2026-27 academic year.

✨ Project Highlights:

• 🚀 Designed and constructed in just 15 months using the innovative Folia building system and a collaborative design-build approach
• 📐 New 16,000-square-foot, two-story classroom building
• 📚 11 standard classrooms and one dedicated science classroom
• ♿ Gender-neutral restrooms and student support spaces
• ☀️ Bright, modern learning environments with abundant natural light
• 🌿 Enhanced indoor air quality and integrated classroom technology
• 🌳 Outdoor learning courtyard that connects directly to the building
• 🛡️ Dedicated and secure learning environment designed for seventh and eighth-grade students
• 🔗 Seamless integration with the existing high school campus

The new facility serves as the centerpiece of Piner High School's campus expansion and is designed to support the educational needs of both current and future generations of students. By leveraging the efficiency of the Folia system, the project team delivered a high-performing, future-ready learning environment that supports Santa Rosa City Schools' long-term educational goals.

🎀 The project was celebrated with a ribbon cutting ceremony attended by district leaders, project partners, and community members. QKA team members Aaron Jobson, Craig Giacomini, Elizabeth Putnam, Kevin Chapin, and Ryan Kates attended in support of the project and to represent the firm.
