Today marks one year since the wildfires.

For many, the past year has been marked by loss, uncertainty, and the long emotional and logistical work of rebuilding.

Recently, my mom was visiting, and we spent time on Via de la Paz, the street where she grew up in Pacific Palisades – across from a home she used to play in as a child, designed by Richard Neutra, which was also destroyed in the fire. Standing there was a reminder that what was lost wasn’t just structures, but places layered with memory, history, and meaning. It’s great to see that reconstruction is well underway, with thousands of structures in permitting and construction in the Palisades and elsewhere.

At Plant, we’re currently working on 64 single-family and multifamily homes across Altadena, Malibu, and Pacific Palisades – including a home blocks away from my mom’s old home. The homes were designed by exceptional partners including Bica Architects, Lehrer Architects, Scott Prentice, Studio MUCA, Tenover Studios, ToToby LongWiehle-Carr Architecture, and others.

To those who have already placed their trust in us, thank you – we’re honored – and we’re working extremely hard to help you get back to your homes and communities as quickly as possible. For those still deciding what to do, please know we’re here to help in any way we can, and you’re always welcome to reach out to me personally.
