Communication is EVERYTHING when it comes to our clients and contractors!

When we can't be onsite to oversee construction, maintaining open communication with our project managers and landscape foremen is essential to making sure that builds run smoothly ✅ We love receiving photos like these ➡️ that let us know construction in one of our San Francisco Bay Area projects is going quickly and accurately!

Looking for a designer with extensive experience collaborating on design-builds? Look no further! Drop us a line and let's talk about how we can make your next project happen!💪

Shoutout to Miranda's Landscape for being an absolute joy to work with in the Bay Area!

Reflecting on past projects, we're particularly proud of this coastal gem where functionality meets sustainability. 🌊🌿 We embraced a selection of native plants and cultivars that thrive alongside the ebb and flow of the sea, and juxtaposed them with strong clean pathways and structural elements. The result is a landscape that not only enhances the beauty of its residential architecture but also respects the local ecosystem.

It's (pre)serving...
We're digging deep into the archives of our founder, Rita Manna's portfolio and thinking back on how much fun we had designing a creek restoration and overflow parking area for McClellan Ranch Preserve in Cupertino, CA!

This ecologically friendly and permeable parking lot allows for water to continue to naturally percolate back into the water table at Stevens Creek, rather than rushing out into the already over-burdened storm sewer system. Featured on this project are a native riparian planting palette, a recycled redwood much path and a unique take on a parking stop for each space.

We used locally sourced Redwood to anchor each parking space, rather than using a rubber or concrete parking stop. Park your car here and enjoy a stroll on the historic orchard and fully restored Stevens Creek!

Did you know?
Phytoremediation is a sustainable environmental remediation technique that uses specific plants to remove, degrade, or immobilize contaminants from soil, water, or air through natural use. Just like we need our vitamins and minerals, these special plants have a unique appetite for heavy metals, making them valuable allies in cleaning up devastated environments. By trapping or metabolizing contaminants, they become nature's cleanup crew, restoring polluted or contaminated sites efficiently and cost-effectively. 💪🍃Phytoremediation plants are carefully chosen for their ability to absorb, accumulate, or break down specific contaminants.

Here are some examples and what they can help remediate:

Sunflowers (Helianthus annuus): Sunflowers are known for their ability to absorb heavy metals, such as lead, arsenic, and uranium, from contaminated soils.

Willow trees (Salix spp.): Willow trees can help remediate soil and groundwater contaminated with heavy metals, organic compounds, and even explosives like TNT.

Poplar trees (Populus spp.): Poplars are used to remediate soil and groundwater contaminated with volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and hydrocarbons.

Indian Mustard (Brassica juncea): This plant is effective at absorbing heavy metals, particularly cadmium and lead, from contaminated soils.

However, a word of caution: not all plants are suitable for phytoremediation, as some, like lettuce and sunflowers, may pose a risk if consumed. So, always be mindful of where you plant them! 🌱🚫

The choice of phytoremediation plants depends on the specific contaminants and environmental conditions, ensuring a tailored and effective cleanup approach. Visit our website or check out our blog for more information, or contact us to talk about your site!
