At Bay Area Builders, we know that great projects begin with great people. That's why we're excited to welcome Kayla Goldsby to our team as a Project Engineer.

Kayla joins Bay Area Builders with more than three years of commercial construction experience, most recently with a nationally recognized commercial general contractor supporting projects throughout Stanford University's campus. Her background includes tenant improvements and modernization projects within active educational environments, where careful planning, communication, and attention to detail are essential to successful project delivery.

A graduate of the University of the Pacific with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Management, Kayla brings a strong foundation in project coordination, problem-solving, and client service.

Outside of work, Kayla enjoys spending time with family and friends, discovering new restaurants, staying active with walks, and unwinding with the latest reality TV series.

The answer can have a significant impact on cost, schedule, feasibility and coordination.

PROJECT SPOTLIGHT | WESTFIELD

Bay Area Builders is currently supporting the structural transformation of a former two story retail space for Westfield as part of a larger retail asset repositioning initiative.

A key milestone in the project is the removal of the existing escalator system, allowing the space to be restored to two independent floor plates and preparing the asset for its next generation of tenants.

Projects like this require far more than demolition. They demand careful planning, structural expertise, and precise ex*****on to create flexible, market ready spaces that support future leasing opportunities.

We look forward to sharing additional progress as this transformation continues.

𝙋𝙍𝙊𝙅𝙀𝘾𝙏 𝙎𝙋𝙊𝙏𝙇𝙄𝙂𝙃𝙏 | 𝙎𝘼𝙉 𝙅𝙊𝙎𝙀, 𝘾𝘼

One of the more unique projects in the Bay Area Builders portfolio, this transformation combined five individual suites into a custom automotive showroom, workshop, and event destination.

Designed around a passion for exceptional automobiles, the project featured vehicle display areas, custom millwork, specialty lighting, glass overhead doors, decorative architectural elements, and a fully functional workshop. Every detail was thoughtfully crafted to create an environment that is both functional and visually striking.

The result is a one-of-a-kind venue where automotive culture, craftsmanship, and design come together.

Last week, the teams from Bay Area Builders, BAB Facilities, and BAB Commercial came together for our annual company picnic.

It was a great opportunity to step away from the jobsite and office to spend time with the people who make our success possible. From incredible BBQ and family activities to raffle prizes, a decorated hat contest, and plenty of laughter, the day was all about celebrating our employees and their families.

The decorated hat contest was a highlight of the afternoon, with participants showing off some impressive creativity, humor, and craftsmanship. The competition was fierce, and the entries made for plenty of smiles throughout the day. The raffle drawings were another crowd favorite, with a variety of prizes adding a little extra excitement and friendly anticipation throughout the event.

As our companies continue to grow throughout California and Colorado, we're grateful for the talented people who bring dedication, teamwork, and professionalism to every project we deliver.

Bay Area Builders transformed two adjacent first-generation shell spaces into a fully integrated taproom and hospitality environment featuring a modern commercial kitchen, custom restroom build-outs, expansive indoor/outdoor seating areas, and new rooftop HVAC infrastructure.

Constructed beneath five floors of occupied residential units within a post-tension structure, the project required careful planning, sequencing, and coordination to safely execute the work while minimizing disruption to the active mixed-use environment.

The completed space delivers a warm, industrial-inspired hospitality experience that blends architectural character with highly functional design.

Safety isn’t something we talk about once a year. It’s part of how we work every day.

From morning huddles to equipment checks and coordination in the field, our teams take the time to plan, communicate, and look out for one another before the work begins.

Construction Safety Week is a good reminder, but the reality is simple. The best projects are the ones where everyone goes home safe at the end of the day.
