By the time a project hits a lead database, you're already behind.

More GCs are chasing the same jobs, and subcontractors are drowning in invitations to bid. Everyone is fishing the same pond, off the same public lists.

The contractors who win the next cycle aren't bidding everything. They're finding the right construction work first, before it goes public.

The earliest signals live in planning minutes, zoning records, and permits, where almost no one has time to look.

Otto reads across those sources, scores each signal against the work you actually want, and surfaces the projects worth your time before they reach a bid list. The research gets handled, and the decision stays with your team.

Wayne Gretzky said he skated to where the puck was going, not where it had been. Business development in construction still does the opposite.

Technology and attention go to delivery, the field, and the close. Pursuit, the part that decides whether the work is worth winning at all, runs on instinct and spreadsheets. In a crowded market, the teams that win are the ones that get there first.

Here is the case for treating business development as a real workflow. Full five-minute breakdown in the comments.

Here is what most people miss about AI in construction.

The tools most teams are using still hand the work back to you. You ask a chat tool to summarize a subcontractor agreement and it gives you the summary. You ask it to check a budget variance and it gives you the analysis. Every answer comes back to your desk, and you are still the one deciding what happens next. The tool got faster. The work did not move off your plate.

Orchestration is a different idea. It reads the agreement, flags the risk, updates the log, and triggers the next step on its own. A finished estimate triggers a budget check. That budget check triggers an approval. The work keeps moving down the line instead of stacking back up on one person.

That is the line between software that remembers the work and software that actually does it. We put together a short breakdown on what that looks like, plus four other things worth knowing about orchestration.

There is a project taking shape in your city right now, filed under entitlements and conditional use permits, and it might be from a company you have never talked to. In a clip from yesterday's webinar, Briq shows how Otto surfaces that signal, finds the right person, and gives you the opening to reach out before anyone else does. That is the part no traditional CRM does today.

We go live in two hours. Find Your Next Project in the Age of AI starts today at 1 PM ET.

The market got more crowded, margins got tighter, and a lot of the work you used to hear about never reaches you anymore. Bassem Hamdy, Reagan Enger, and Ellis Talton are getting into what changed about finding and winning work, and where AI fits.

Most construction companies don't hear about a project until it's out for bid. By then they're one of ten contractors fighting over the same scope. The opportunities are already public. They're sitting in planning minutes, permit filings, regional news, and the 10K reports of every public company in...

For most of construction's history, how much work you could find came down to how much ground your team could cover. It was the markets you knew, the relationships you kept warm, and the bid lists you happened to be on.

AI changes how much of a market you can see at once. A single city produces more public signals about future construction than any team could read by hand, from planning agendas to permits to regional filings. The advantage is no longer just knowing the right people. It is seeing the work early enough to act on it.

This Wednesday, Bassem Hamdy and Ellis Talton talk through what that means for how contractors grow, then show how Otto reads a market's public record and surfaces the projects worth chasing, live.

Here is something most construction leaders run into without naming it. They bring AI into estimating, then business development, then project management. Each one helps. Each one stays in its own lane.

So the estimator never sees what BD learned about the account. The PM never sees the assumptions behind the bid. Everyone did their job, and the work still stalls in the handoffs between teams.

That is the difference between adding AI tools and orchestrating them. One approach speeds up a single task. The other coordinates the whole project, from lead to award and into the build itself.

Someone on your team builds an AI tool over the weekend and it works. So why pay for software? Why not just build it yourselves?

That is the trap. A tool that works once for one person is a very different thing from the AI that runs a construction business every day, on real money.

Here are the seven things a build has to get right first: data modeling, integration, security and permissions, reliability, governance, team adoption, and domain knowledge.
