Just a few more days to get the word out before Tuesday’s big vote!

Vote “yes” on Measure J for Hope Elementary School District.

01/25/2020

Why "YAY" for Measure J?

An extraordinary and sought-after elementary school is the pillar of any thriving community and the Hope Elementary School District provides those schools in our neighborhood. Many families look to purchase homes specifically in our District because of the high-achieving and well-rounded education the District provides.
The facilities of the three elementary schools - Hope, Monte Vista and Vieja Vallley - are outdated and are in dire need of upgrades and renovation. Measure J will will allow the District to improve the quality of the school facilities and education provided to local students.
Specific types of projects identified include:
• Repair or replace leaky and aging roofs
• Upgrade inadequate and potentially unsafe electrical systems
• Repair or replace deteriorating plumbing and sewer systems
• Modernize outdated classrooms, restrooms and school facilities
• Make health, safety and security improvements, window updates, and locking doors
Today, the scope of improvements needed in the Hope Elementary School District is far more than the current funding sources available. The funding which the District receives from the state and county is intended to be used for the day-to-day business of educating students and not the cost of upgrading, modernizing, and repairing facilities; this is true for Districts state-wide.
Finally - you can be sure the funds will go directly to meet these facilities needs. By law, all funds have to be spent locally and cannot be taken by the state. Furthermore, an independent citizens’ oversight committee will be established to ensure that bond funds are properly spent. Also, by law, there must be annual audits and no bond money can be used for teacher or administrative salaries.
Please vote “Yay” on Measure J!
