Did you know that a winter storm can cause over $1 billion in damage?! But not your home! Because you're going to be well prepared for any harsh conditions after this checklist, isn’t that right?
WINTER HOME MAINTENANCE CHECKLIST
* Clean and clear the gutters
* Check the roof for ice dams or leaks from melting snow
* Prep your home’s heating system — including checking your chimney and fireplace
* Check and replace all batteries, including the ones in your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms
* Insulate pipes near freezing-risk spots, such as near windows
* Protect your entryways (and floors) by adding drying areas/mats for wet clothing and shoes
* Add/replace insulation
* Prep emergency lights and generators
* Check all air filters
* Trim tree limbs to prevent accidents
* Get your snow and winter tools ready in an easy-to-get-to spot (and protect them from the elements)
* Protect outside furniture and amenities
* Stock up on salt
* Clean and repair window and door frames to prevent water from coming in
* Test your sump pump to avoid water buildup
