Every once in a while we get someone that calls asking us to top their tree, we always refuse to top trees as it’s a bad practice and inevitably leads to future hazards on the tree. When topped the trees may appear to flourish but can never fully heal the wounds from the cuts this is an example of a tree that was topped prior to us removing it. The homeowner had started losing large limbs from the areas where the tree was topped. Every union where new branches had formed and grew were hollow and rotting. The tree was unable to seal the wounds and heal before the rot had set in.
