To correct the grade, we applied approximately 1” of screened premium topsoil, leveled with a drag mat, overseeded with RTF raked seed into the soil, and irrigated to ensure good seed-to-soil contact and germination.

Proper leveling isn’t just about appearance. It improves mow quality, reduces scalping, and creates a smoother, safer lawn.

You can have the best seed, the best compost, and the best soil preparation, but if the seed dries out before germination, none of it matters.

🌱 Weeks 1–3: Keep the seed consistently moist with short, frequent watering throughout the day.

🌱 Weeks 4–9: Transition to deeper, less frequent watering to encourage roots to grow deeper into the soil.

The biggest mistake homeowners make after overseeding is underestimating the importance of watering. Seed that stays moist germinates. Seed that dries out dies.

This fall, Regenerative Soil Solutions will be offering temporary sprinkler irrigation systems for customers who want professional results but don’t have an in-ground irrigation system. We’ll handle the setup, scheduling, and watering strategy so your new lawn gets the best possible start.

Most lawn problems don’t start with fertilizer—they start with mowing.

A sharp blade creates a clean cut that heals faster, reduces stress, and helps maintain a healthier turf canopy. Dull blades tear grass, increase moisture loss, and leave lawns more susceptible to disease and summer stress.

For most cool-season lawns in Western New York:
✓ Maintain a mowing height of 3–4” during summer
✓ Target 3.5” for the best balance of drought tolerance, w**d suppression, and root development
âś“ Never remove more than 1/3 of the blade at a time
âś“ Mow when the grass is dry for the cleanest cut
