Placing rock slope protection at the Monte Rio slide repair along the Russian River. The crew set 4 tons of rock on the lower section and is now placing a quarter ton of rock up each side, working off the completed lagging wall to stabilize the slope.

Early start on 101 to beat the heat. The crew was out at 4am pouring vegetation control concrete for the high-tension cable barrier system, getting it placed before the day warmed up and the concrete cured too fast. A little over 60 cubic yards.

Meet Eli Jacobson-Bell, our Project Engineer Intern from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo studying Mechanical Engineering. This summer Eli has been embedded in the Hwy 4 project, tackling everything from RFIs and submittals to Bluebeam takeoffs and lane closures. One of his standout contributions was completing a full color-coded paving takeoff for the remaining work on Route 4, including shoulders and ramps in both directions.

"GBI has laid the groundwork for what it means to be an excellent project engineer and project manager. Whether that is communicating change orders with the State or observing progress out in the field, it's all been incredibly useful as I start my career."
