Kunst Painting, Inc Residential and Commercial Painting Contractor servicing the San Francisco Bay Area since 1901. Bob Kunst started his own painting business in 1959.

When Henry Kunst founded his painting company in 1880, it was the beginning of five generations of Kunst family painters. His son, Tom Kunst and son-in-law Mike Busick took it to the next level from the 1980's through early 2000's. Today, Bob's grandson (John Busick) carries on the family tradition of careful craftsmanship and reliable service. Kunst Painting performs both residential and commerci

al painting, whether new construction, renovations, or repaints. We do interiors and exteriors, from standard painting to creative decorative finishes. We are small enough to give our personal attention to each job, yet large enough to handle any size job.

125 Years | The Kunst Brothers had seven paint stores up and down California and a manufacturing plant in San Francisco. Then in 1949, the factory burned down. They lost everything.

Bob Kunst came back from the war, got into contracting, and never looked back. That's where our story as painters really begins.

Kunst Painting has been nominated for Best Painter in Marin Magazine's Best of the County 2026, and I'd really appreciate your vote.

For me, this is about the people who show up every day to do this work! Our painters put in long hours, early mornings, and tough jobs on some pretty demanding projects. A lot of what they do happens behind the scenes, but they bring real craftsmanship and genuine pride to every single job.

This company has been in my family for decades. It was built by people who cared about doing good work and being a part of this community - and that's still exactly what we're trying to do. Seeing the team get recognized for that means a lot.

We were proud to sponsor the 32nd Annual Dino J. Ghilotti Foundation Golf Tournament yesterday at Mayacama Golf Club.

Since 1992, the Foundation has put over $1.4 million into youth programs across Marin County - supporting academics and athletics in local schools so kids have what they need to succeed. John had a great time out there and it was so nice to be part of such a special event.

Backyard season is almost here! Before the parties, the barbecues, and the first pool day it's worth taking a look at how your exterior is holding up.
