Supply-chain visibility requires more than better technology.

AI and other digital tools can provide valuable information, but the article argues that their impact depends on the people, processes and relationships surrounding them.

Building stronger visibility across the supply chain also means paying attention to:
πŸ”Ή Strong supplier relationships that can help identify potential issues earlier
πŸ”Ή KPIs and early warning signals that track changes across transportation, capacity, costs and other critical areas
πŸ”Ή Developing the right talent to interpret information and respond effectively
πŸ”Ή Integrated business planning that connects procurement, manufacturing, logistics and other functions

The EPA is proposing major revisions to its Risk Management Program (RMP) rules that could reshape compliance requirements for thousands of U.S. facilities.

Key proposed changes include:
βœ… Scaling back safer technologies and alternatives analysis requirements
βœ… Eliminating or narrowing third-party audit requirements
βœ… Reducing certain employee participation and documentation requirements
βœ… Shifting some public information responsibilities from facilities to the EPA

The EPA estimates the proposed revisions could generate more than $230 million in annual compliance cost savings nationwide.

For now, existing RMP requirements remain in effect while the proposal moves through the rule making process.
