⚡Product of the Week⚡

Samsung INR 13S 54V Battery Module — $39 each (was $260)

Brand new. Factory packaged. These are Samsung INR 20R cells in a 6P13S configuration — 78 cells per module, 505 Wh, 46.8V nominal, and 132A continuous output. The 20R is one of the highest-current 18650 cells Samsung makes, and with 6 in parallel you get a module that moves serious power at a price that's hard to argue with.

Built for karting projects, eBikes, scooters, and small EV hobbyist builds. Stack a few in parallel to scale up capacity for a larger custom pack.

9.4" × 5.5" × 2.75" | 8 lbs | M4 terminals | JST 2.0 connector CAD file, wiring schematic, and data sheet all available on the product page.

EV West and the Electric Vehicle Learning Center are hosting a focused 3-day Tesla Swap Class from August 5–7 at the EVLC and EV West facilities in San Marcos, California. ⚡ This course is built around real-world Tesla-based EV conversions, with a hands-on look at drive unit layout, inverter control, high-voltage safety, battery system basics, charging, DC/DC conversion, cooling, diagnostics, CAN communication, and clean shop practices.

This class is built for builders, instructors, technicians, and anyone serious about understanding how a Tesla swap comes together from planning to install. Space is limited, and the course is designed to give students practical knowledge they can take back to their own projects, classrooms, or shops. 🔧

Product of the Week at EV West: the fully assembled rear battery box enclosure for 1950-1967 VW Bus builds. This setup packages 31.8 kW of Tesla Model S battery modules into a satin black powder-coated rear enclosure made for the Bus platform. It is built around six Tesla 5.3 kW modules for a 136V nominal pack, making it a strong fit for many of our 144V motor and controller setups. ⚡️🔧

The box also comes with the Dilithium BMS, EV West PCB boards, bus bars, fuse hardware, service disconnect, panel mount connectors, and the supporting hardware needed to make the pack clean and serviceable. For builders who want a bolt-in battery solution without piecing together every small part, this takes a lot of the guesswork out of the rear pack layout.

⚡ Product of the Week at EV West: Our VW Type 2 Bus Subframe designed for the Tesla Model S rear drive unit. This subframe is built for T1 and early T2 Bus conversions, and you can see the same idea coming together in the video on our 1965 VW double cab shop build.

Two weeks in, the swing axle is out, the Type E Motorsports IRS kit is in, and the Tesla small drive unit is next. The build is also getting the pieces that make the swap work as a full system: electronic throttle, brake switch, cooling pump, radiator plumbing, T2-C controller, DC/DC converter, and more. It is a clean way to get modern electric drive into an old VW without guessing your way through the rear subframe setup. 🔧

Back in stock at EV West ⚡ The Hyper9 billet aluminum end bell is made for single shaft Hyper9 motors and lets you mount the motor from the rear face. That matters on setups like VW Type 4, VW Bay Window Bus, Porsche 914, and a lot of American front motor mount layouts where a clean rear support bracket or mustache bar mount makes the install much easier.

This end bell is machined from billet 6061 aluminum, adds about 1/2 inch to the factory end bell length, and uses four 3/8"-16 threaded holes on a 6-inch bolt circle. EV West also includes installation free of charge and backs it with a lifetime warranty. 🔧

Product of the Week: EV Trainer Cart ⚡

In honor of this week’s Carts & Coffee event, we’re putting the spotlight back on the EV Trainer Cart. This is a fully assembled, running EV drivetrain mounted on an open frame, built to give instructors and students a clear look at how the system works in real time. It’s designed for hands-on classroom training, diagnostics, programming instruction, and EV drivetrain demonstrations.

The cart is available with Hyper 9 or Tesla drivetrain options, giving schools and training programs a practical way to teach modern EV systems using real components. It can be used to demonstrate motor and inverter operation, DC-to-DC converter function, charging systems, BMS safety functions, CAN diagnostics, and more.

Carts & Coffee is only two days away. Join us at EV West for an in-person look at the EV Trainer Cart — a fully assembled, running AC drivetrain on an open frame built for classroom instruction. You’ll see the system run live, review the main components, and have time to ask questions. ⚡

A full livestream option is available for instructors who can’t make it to San Diego, and Ron Grosinger from Mr. G’s Workshop will be joining the online presentation.

This week's pick for Product of the Week is the EV Trainer Cart — fully assembled with your choice of a Hyper9 or Tesla drivetrain. It's a complete working EV system on wheels: motor, inverter, lithium battery pack, J1772 charge port, CAN bus, BMS. No simulators. Built for automotive programs that need students working on live high-voltage systems from day one, not just reading about hem. Plugs into any 110V outlet, rolls through a standard doorway, and the full drivetrain can be pulled and dropped into a sub-2000 lb vehicle when you're ready to put it on the road. ASE L3 aligned. ⚡

Come see it in person this Wednesday. We're hosting Carts & Coffee on May 13 at EV West in San Marcos — its free, talk to the team, and get a real look at what hands-on EV training actually involves. If you can't make it in person sign up for the live stream.☕

Product of the Week at EV West: the Dilithium BMS LTC Sense Line Y-Harness for Tesla Model S/X battery module setups. ⚡ This harness is used when Tesla modules are paralleled and need to be monitored through the Dilithium BMS as a single cell group. Instead of building out custom sense wiring, it gives the pack a cleaner, repeatable connection path that fits into the EV West Tesla BMS setup.

The full system starts with the Tesla Model S/X BMS Connectivity and Fuse Protection PCB boards on the modules, connects through the EV West Tesla Model S/X Dilithium Single Module BMS Harness, and uses this Y-harness when modules are grouped in parallel. 🔋 It is built for 2P, 3P, 4P, and larger Tesla module configurations while keeping BMS wiring easier to assemble and service. Main power connections still need to be paralleled separately, and modules should always be voltage-matched before setup.
