⚡ Product of the Week: Samsung SDI 60Ah Prismatic Cell ⚡

Samsung SDI NMC, and one of the best dollar-per-kilowatt-hour numbers we've ever been able to put on the shelf. 60 Ah at 3.7 volts nominal - 222 Wh in a single cell, for $59. That works out to $266 per kWh.

Prismatic, so it stacks flat and compresses properly instead of fighting you for space. 175 x 143 x 45 mm, 1.85 kg each.

Supplies are limited. 🔋

⚡ Product of the Week: EV Trainer Cart ⚡

Pick your flavor. 🔧

One cart. One drivetrain. You pick which one.

The EV Trainer Cart ships with either a NetGain Hyper 9 or a Tesla drive unit — not both. Same frame, same curriculum, same diagnostic workflow. You choose the drivetrain your students should be learning on. (Hyper 9 is the top row above, Tesla is the bottom row.)

The EV West built the EV Trainer Cart — is offered it two ways.

OPTION 1 — HYPER 9
NetGain Hyper 9 motor and SME controller. This is the drivetrain most conversion shops are running, and the one the majority of our customers build with. If your program leans toward classic conversions and aftermarket work, order this one.

OPTION 2 — TESLA
Tesla drive unit, inverter, and the CAN work behind it. This is the swap everybody wants and the one that stops most builders cold — inverter setup, CAN communication, cooling, programming. Teach it on a bench where every connection is visible before a student ever touches a car.

WHAT YOU GET EITHER WAY
A complete, running electric drivetrain on an open frame — motor, inverter, DC-to-DC converter, onboard charger, BMS, and battery pack, all of it out in the open. Nothing hidden behind a body panel, nothing simulated by a training board. These are the same components we put into customer conversions every week.

Students trace a high-voltage circuit end to end, watch the inverter work, and put a meter on a live system while it runs.

The part instructors react to: built-in diagnostic ports and sample faults. You introduce a fault, hand a student a scan tool and a multimeter, and let them find it — the same way they will do it in a shop.

What it takes to put one in your lab:
• Plugs into a standard 110V wall outlet. No electrical work, no dedicated room, no shop upgrade.
• Rolls between classrooms. 553 lbs, ADA-compliant height at 52.75 x 30.75 x 50 inches.
• Full curriculum included — lab exercises, quizzes, instructor keys, color graphics.
• Display monitor with Wi-Fi.
• Instructor training, live or virtual. Train-the-Trainer course aligned to ASE.
• Components transplant into a vehicle under 2,000 lbs when you want a rolling project.

$32,995 fully assembled and running. Financing may be available for qualified institutions.

Back to School. Back to Building.

Budget requests for next year get written this fall. If that is where you are, email [email protected] with “EV Trainer — [your school]” in the subject line. ⚡ Product of the Week: the Elcon 6.6kW CAN Bus Charger. 🔌

Motors and battery packs get all the attention, but the charger is the part you use every single day for the life of the build. Get it wrong and you're waiting around. Get it right and you stop thinking about it. 🔋

This one delivers 6.6 kW of onboard AC charging at 92% efficiency, with the charge algorithm programmed over CAN bus — voltage cutoff, current, and cutoff time all set to match your pack instead of a factory guess. The input accepts anything from 90 to 260 volts at 50 or 60 Hz, drawing 0.2 to 32 amps AC, so a standard household outlet away from home and a 240V circuit in your garage both work without carrying a second charger. ⚡

A thermostat-controlled variable speed fan keeps it quiet at low load and moves air when the pack is drinking. At 13.75 pounds and 6.2 x 9 x 13.8 inches, it tucks into the space a fuel tank or spare tire used to occupy. 🔧

$1,600 — Charge controller sold separately.

⚡ Product of the Week: the EV West VW Beetle Complete EV Conversion Kit — and still one of our best sellers. 🐞

There are plenty of ways to build an electric Beetle, and most start with a parts list and a lot of guessing. This one doesn't. Every component was picked specifically for the Beetle and refined for fit and finish, so what lands at your door is a kit, not a pile of boxes to reconcile. 🔧

At the center is the NetGain HyPer9 120V motor paired to the SME AC-X1 760 amp controller, a billet aluminum transmission adapter, and the EV West H9 chill plate to keep temperatures where they belong. Charging runs through the Thunderstruck 2500 with a Dilithium BMS MCU and a J1772 inlet. Five Tesla Model S modules give you 26.5 kWh at 126 volts, with front and rear enclosures built to hold them. 🔋

The numbers: 173 pounds of instant torque, a 100 mph top speed, about 90 miles of safe driving range, and a full charge in a little under 8 hours. Regen braking included.

Right down to the heat shrink and fuse holders, it's all in the box. Fits 1956–1977. 🚗⚡

⚡ Product of the Week: Porsche 911 EV Conversion Kit — Tesla Large Drive Unit

One of the most requested builds we get asked about — and here's the kit that makes it happen. Our Porsche 911 conversion package is built around the Tesla Model S large drive unit, so you get real modern EV performance in a classic 911.

The kit includes the major components that make a 911 Tesla swap work: LDU motor, controller, electronic throttle, stub axles, motor mounts, and battery boxes — the hard-to-source parts engineered to fit the 911 platform, not adapted from something else.

The result is instant torque, smooth power delivery, and the everyday drivability of a Tesla drivetrain, wrapped in one of the most iconic shapes on the road. Whether you're building a clean street car or a serious performance 911, this is the foundation to build around. 🔧🏁
