❤️🤍💙Flag Retirement Ceremony 🇺🇸 American Legion ❤️🤍💙.
Greenvale and Steve had the honor of using our aerial lift truck to display the flag for The American Legion SLO County 🇺🇸.

⭐️ The American Legion’s flag retirement ceremony is a solemn and deeply respectful ritual dedicated to the dignified disposal of unserviceable United States flags. Historically formalized in 1937, this official event brings together veterans, legionnaires, and youth groups to pay a final tribute to worn, torn, or faded banners that are no longer fit for display. During the ceremony, officials inspect the flags to declare them unserviceable before a selected banner is placed onto a sacred fire pit, symbolizing the collective retirement of all the flags present. As the flags are consumed by the flames, attendees stand at attention, render a hand salute, and recite the Pledge of Allegiance. The ceremony concludes with a chaplain’s prayer, and the remaining ashes are later collected and buried, ensuring that the symbol of the nation is treated with honor from its first deployment to its final rest ❤️🤍💙

The gold-dusted hills of the Santa Lucia range,
Watch the seasons collide in a shimmering change.
In Nipomo, the air smells of eucalyptus and peat,
As the lemon groves blossom, citrus-heavy and sweet.
Down in the Santa Maria Valley, the rows stretch wide,
Where the white strawberry blooms can no longer hide.
The coast live oaks stand with their twisted, old pride,
Watching the green tide roll in from the side.
Then north through the pass, where the climate turns bold,
Paso Robles awakens in purple and gold.
The almond trees drift like a soft, winter snow,
While the vines start to stretch in a long, rhythmic row.
By the cliffs of Montaña de Oro, the salt spray meets bloom,
Where wild mustard banishes winter’s gray gloom.
From the dunes to the dirt, through the valley and glen,
The Central Coast spirit is breathing again.
And where the Seven Sisters stand tall in a line,
The peaks of the valley are rugged and fine.
Bishop Peak wears a crown of new green,
A jagged grey titan in a pastoral scene.
Down in the Plaza, where the Mission bells ring,
The sycamores dapple the first light of spring.
Through the heart of the city, the creek starts to flow,
Under willows that sway as the soft breezes blow.
From the Nipomo dunes to the Paso high crest,
The Central Coast wakes in its seasonal best.
With the scent of the blossoms and salt on the air,
