🌴 How to Properly Prune a Sago Palm (After Someone Butchered It)

In this video, I’m showing a Sago Palm that was badly trimmed by others — they only clipped the tips of the leaves, which is one of the worst things you can do to a sago. Tip‑cutting doesn’t shape the plant, doesn’t help its health, and definitely doesn’t make it look good.

So we fixed it the right way.

• Removed full leaves, not just the tips
• Cut clean at the base, following the natural line of the plant
• Opened the structure so the palm looks balanced
• Cleaned the trunk to bring out that classic sago look
• Shaped the crown so new growth comes in strong and even

A Sago Palm should look bold, clean, and architectural — not chopped, jagged, or fuzzy. When you prune it correctly, the plant responds with healthier fronds and a sharper, more defined shape.
