Sunshine and Glimmer's home and enclave on the river in San Jose has impacted so many burners’ lives for 13+ years that we really hope burners buy it. Kind of
like “Save Club Z From Default!”. So, please like this page, share it, post your memories and pictures here, and ask your wealthy burner friends to consider buying Club Z! If they don't, some non-burner millennial will, because an 18,000+ foot enclave in San Jose where your DJ can blast the back yard all night is a pretty unique trophy catch for anyone! And we’ve been doing that here for nearly 2 decades…consider the burner history on this magic land:
- In 2003-2004 alone, the events here starting with “The Perfect Storm” grew the South Bay regional list from ~50 to ~500.
- In '04 we hosted the first all-night party for ~300 to celebrate the mid-point between burns, took it to the Org 2 years later, and today Burnal Equinox is celebrated by Burning Man regionals worldwide. For the builders of the playa, it marks the real pre-com, yes?
- For a decade, we’ve hosted Dust-Off, an all-night “non-decompression” gathering one week post Man burn - now Opulent has taken that to SF, and who know’s where's next.
- We conceived Silicon Village here, the playa’s largest regional theme camp.
- The South Bay region’s first large art project was also conceived here, which ultimately became The Pagoda of Infinite Reflection. Dozens of playa projects have been built here since.
- Club Z is the home of Playatech, which engages more makers and tons of wood each year than the Temple: hundreds of burners have held power tools for the first time in their lives here, and thousands of playa camps were at least partially prototyped here.
- Hundreds attended their first burner event here, and dozens met the love of their life here. Only hundreds more of you know what else has transpired in this magical space...
Just last weekend, we had a little private birthday party for my wife and two other ladies with 100 or so guests. Unlike most birthday parties, the bar was a blacklight pussycat cage in the backyard. The music was a DJ blasting it out till 4AM indoors and out. And each birthday girl got her own burner birthday candle - a tower of flame from a dried-out Christmas tree. Want THAT in your life whenever you feel like it? You had to be here the past 13+ years, or find a burner to buy this house! In its own stealthy way, Club Z has left is mark on the playa and Burning Man culture like so many other centers of art and community that have been lost. But it won’t take $50M to save this one from a bulldozer - just one burner family who wants a really nice place to live, make art, and create community in the South Bay, and who can afford the price of an upscale house in San Jose. I’ll post the real estate details separately, and a link to the listing when it goes live. But I really hope a lovely burner reaches out to me before that…the broker is still figuring out final pricing, but I think it will list in the $1.6M-$1.7M range and get a lot of interest due to its extremely rare large lot size…smaller (but newer) houses nearby with no pool and tiny yards have gone for over $1.5M. So we are NOT posting this because we need exposure here to sell our house, but because we are real burners and the thought of Club Z not remaining a burner enclave literally makes us cry. There will be some kind of finale...
