Katharine Webster Inc. San Francisco-based landscape design firm, specializing in the custom creation of outdoor living exp

Bringing East Coast sophistication to the West Coast wild, one’s more likely to find this CEO amongst the succulents, than in a boardroom. With a degree in Environmental Sculpture, and a Masters degree in Landscape Architecture from Harvard, Katharine Webster is transforming the way we experience outdoor living. Her vision of what exterior design should entail, mixed with a passion for innovative product creation, has led her on a mission to forever blur the lines between interior and alfresco living spaces. Whether influenced by her international upbringing, a brief stint on Wall Street or her apprenticeship with famed sculptor Jackie Winsor, this beguiling nature enthusiast relishes in finding elegant solutions to tricky situations. "In order to realize my vision, if I need a certain table or chair, which has yet to exist on the market, I simply create and produce them. Fulfillment of the creative process is the veranda of freedom." Forever flourishing, Katharine is an expert at bringing unlikely tones, textures and themes together, making for amazing visual feasts, where utility, comfort, and fun are always key ingredients to her expression. This unique ability to draw from many influences and create exotic combinations, has manifest itself through her firm, which specializes in re-imagining nature's living rooms, by using an innovative, multi- disciplinary approach. Like her awe inspiring environmental sculptures, Katharine Webster is truly a one of a kind, who has risen like a sunflower to become a leader in the outdoor living revolution.

Life is better on the water!
A great example of the ‘business in the front, party in the back’ philosophy, lagoon living allows for a formal entry on the street side in contrast to relaxed living on the water.
KWI worked with interior designer Eugenia Jesberg to edit plantings to create multiple areas to relax and entertain and lead guests right down to water’s edge. Plants were selected to add color, create separation between zones and soften the edges of the hardscape.
Lagoon life means jumping in the kayak for a quick paddle while the grill is heating up, or greeting your neighbors as they arrive by boat for cocktails.
It’s informal and fun, and encapsulates the best of California coastal living.

It’s a special kind of compliment when a colleague invites you into their own home, so we were thrilled when interior designer Eugenia Jesberg asked us to help refresh her idyllic property on the Belvedere lagoon.
We often collaborate with designers, architects or builders and appreciate getting to know them on a more personal and intimate level.
In this project, we loved being allowed a glimpse into the hidden world of the Belvedere lagoon. It was particularly meaningful when we were asked to edit the plantings in preparation for her grandson’s baby shower last year.
