We recently completed the remodel of a 1,900-square-foot garden-level unit in a classic Victorian. By reworking garage and storage spaces, the apartment was reoriented to focus on garden views, with a new wood workshop and direct access to the backyard. The redesign created private en-suite bedrooms, and the addition of French doors brought more connection to the outdoor space. Our client, a former furniture maker, crafted custom wood finishes that balance the home’s Victorian roots with a modern feel.

Our Story

OPENSCOPE STUDIO is a San Francisco practice committed to exploring a wide range of project types at all scales, from architecture and urban planning to furniture design. The shift in size and context allows us to create informed design, and address multiple aesthetic, social, technical, and economic goals. Much of our current work centers on infill urban housing, from adding density to existing buildings via co-living or accessory dwelling units up to developing plans for two acre mixed use site with a mixture of housing and commercial space.
