From drawing to framing to performance, geometry is doing the same work in different mediums.

In our current project, the roof framing is more than structure—it sets up a choreography of lines, spans, angles, and intersections that shape how the space is experienced. The joists and beams read almost like a score: repeating members establish rhythm, shifts in pitch create movement, and the angled roof planes pull the eye across the room toward light and volume.

Looking at the diagram from Blake’s Project, we were struck by a similar language. The body is mapped through arcs, axes, extensions, and balance; motion becomes geometry. In the framing of this room, that same idea appears in built form: structure as movement, proportion as tension, and repetition as cadence.

What begins as a technical roof plan becomes something spatial and almost performative once built. The geometry is not static—it directs energy, frames light, and gives the room its sense of lift.

Design, structure, and movement all speaking the same language.

Final walkthru for a beautiful commercial space on California Street (near Divisadero) we completely retrofitted for a new tenant. Brand new and huge skylights, energy efficient heating system, and structurally upgraded. It’s long time coming (and more work to be done), but super proud of the team and client to bring this to fruition.

Anyone who has experienced a Gehry building can appreciate a bold design can emerge from BOTH a simple pencil and parametric tools. His understanding of space continues to inspire deeper exploration at the intersection of architecture and engineering. Glad we last visited this little gem.
