Thinking about an EV, but not sure when you’ll actually buy one? You may not want to oversize your solar system just yet.
A good starting point is to think about how much charging you’ll actually do at home. As a general rule, about 3 miles of driving uses 1 kWh of electricity—so 600 miles a month could mean roughly 200 kWh of additional monthly usage.
But workplace charging, your driving habits, and EV-specific utility rates can all change the math.

In 2025 the world added 600 TWh of solar electricity — the largest single-year gain ever recorded for any energy source. Not just any renewable. Any source.
