One of the biggest challenges on this project was the limited space alongside the house. The homeowner wanted to keep the walkway as wide and comfortable as possible.

The original Carrier system, which had been in service for more than 25 years, had a very compact design that is no longer manufactured. A standard 3-ton condenser measures approximately 28” × 28”, which would have taken up too much of the walkway.

To solve this, we selected a slim-profile condenser measuring just 18 inches wide. This allowed us to preserve plenty of walking space while still providing a high-efficiency, full-capacity HVAC system.

The customer is extremely happy with the final result. Another successful installation by Big City HVAC.

Today we completed the replacement of an old air conditioning system with a brand-new high-efficiency unit.

One of the biggest challenges on this project was that the property is governed by an HOA with strict requirements regarding equipment specifications, including maximum noise levels. We handled the entire HOA approval process on the homeowner’s behalf, providing all required documentation and ensuring the new system met every requirement.

After carefully reviewing the HOA standards, we selected an inverter-driven system with an ultra-low decibel rating. The new system operates quietly, providing maximum comfort without disturbing the homeowner or the neighbors.

Unfortunately, it’s already too late to save this HVAC system. It was installed in 2001 and runs on R-22 refrigerant, which has been phased out for many years. Over time, the entire system has corroded and developed multiple refrigerant leaks, so it can no longer hold a proper charge.

The only real solution is a complete system replacement, which is a significant expense for the owner of a small business operating in this commercial space.
