Empowering local partnership is at the heart of every project we develop, most recently exemplified by our collaboration with New York Power Authority (NYPA) to bring the power of Rich Road Solar to New Yorkers.

"By developing and building this project with NYPA as majority owner, we are demonstrating how public-private partnership can deliver competitive clean energy at scale," quotes Tristan Grimbert, CEO of EDF power solutions North America.

Colocated renewable energy projects, especially solar-plus-storage projects, got a vote of confidence in the first half of 2026 with a record $25 billion investment, nearly triple the amount from a year earlier.

Part of the surge in solar+storage investment, according to BloombergNEF, is how the power pair works to mitigate grid congestion and price volatility.

As energy demands continue to climb, adding storage is more than an accessory; it's fast becoming a necessity to keep communities safe and connected.

Talk about a glow up.

Built on a former landfill in Rutland, Vermont, Stafford Hill Solar became the nation's first microgrid powered entirely by solar and battery storage with zero fossil fuel backup. This local energy independence allows the city to power an emergency shelter at the high school during severe weather events.

Bringing a complex site like this online required specialized expertise. Constructing landmark sites like Stafford Hill reflects our Distribution-Scale Power team's deep experience in transforming brownfields, Superfund sites, and environmentally sensitive lands into reliable energy generation assets through expert construction and project ex*****on.

“Reaching financial close on Utah Solar 1 reflects strong market confidence in this asset and marks a major milestone for our team,” said Amy Lloyd, CFO of EDF power solutions North America. “We appreciate the commitment of Southern California Public Power Authority, Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, and our financial partners as we advance into construction."

During peak activity, the construction phase is expected to employ approximately 400 workers. Over its multi-decade life, Utah Solar 1 is projected to generate more than $40 million in local tax revenue for Millard County and $27 million in lease revenue to the Utah Trust Lands Administration.
