The foundation is too important to cut corners on. That's why I request a geotechnical report on every footprint before a foundation goes in, so it's designed for the soil it's actually sitting on.

It costs more up front. It costs a lot less than fixing a failed foundation, and even under warranty, a repair means months of inspections, meetings, and time off work that you never get back.

Whoever you build with, ask your builder if a geotechnical report was done on the soils before the foundation plan was designed.
