With all the rain and flooding around San Antonio, here are a few electrical things homeowners should keep an eye on. ⚡🌧️
Water and electricity are never a good combination. After heavy rain, watch for:
• Exterior outlets or electrical boxes that have taken on water
• GFCIs that are tripping or won't reset
• Breakers that suddenly begin tripping
• Outdoor lighting that stops working
• Water around your electrical panel, meter, or service equipment
• Flickering lights or unusual electrical behavior after a storm
• Electrical equipment in garages, sheds, or other areas that may have flooded
If electrical equipment has been submerged or you see water inside a panel, outlet, or electrical box, don't assume it's safe just because the power still works. Have it properly evaluated before using it.
Most importantly, don't risk driving or walking through floodwater to check on your property or electrical equipment.
Stay safe and stay weather-aware, San Antonio!
