Texas Heat Is Tough on Metal - Make Sure Your Finishing Can Withstand It.

A Texas summer doesn’t just test your patience, it tests every metal surface left in the sun. With temperatures climbing into the triple digits and intense UV exposure day after day, solvent based paints/finishes can fade, chalk, peel, or crack quicker than ever. The lack of a protective layer often leads to moisture reaching the metal beneath, increasing the risk of corrosion, rust, and costly repairs.

Hiring a media/sandblaster to perform surface preparation, equipment setup, and part cleaning for our powder coating facility in San Antonio. You will be responsible for operating blast equipment, removing rust and old coatings and ensuring metal parts are perfectly primed for painting.

Key Responsibilities
Surface Preparation: Prepare a variety of metal surfaces by blasting away grease, mill scale, rust, and old paint to create the ideal profile for powder coat adhesion.
Equipment Operation: Set up, operate, and maintain sandblasting cabinets and blast pots.
Masking & Racking: Precisely mask, plug, and protect specific areas of parts that should not be blasted or coated. Load and unload parts onto racks and conveyors.
Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on blast equipment, such as cleaning, clearing blockages, and changing nozzles.
Quality Control: Inspect finished surfaces to ensure uniformity and compliance with strict quality specifications.
Safety Compliance: Adhere to all OSHA safety protocols, wearing all required personal protective equipment (PPE) including blast hoods, respirators, and protective suits.
Qualifications
Preference of a minimum of 1-2 years of industrial sandblasting experience, ideally in a powder coating or metal fabrication environment but we will train the right, motivated person.
Knowledge of different abrasive blast media (e.g., aluminum oxide, glass beads, steel grit).
Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot and maintain blasting machinery.
Physical stamina to stand for long shifts, lift up to ≥ 50 lbs., and work in a fast-paced environment.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Physical & Work Environment Demands
This is a physically demanding role; you will frequently bend, kneel, and hold blasting equipment for extended periods.
You must be comfortable wearing a respirator or blast hood and working in a noisy and dusty environment. Applications available in the front office at 2915 S. Zarzamora St. Bldg. Q or email your resume to [email protected].
