What is a Grub?

Lawn Grubs are the Larvae of scarab beetles. The beetles lay there eggs underneath your lawn in the Spring and hatch in the Summer. Once they hatch, its a feeding frenzy and your awn is on the menu.

Yuck, Anything else I should know?

Grubs can lead to turf damage by animals like racoons, skunks, moles and armadillos that will tear up your lawn to feed on the grubs. If grubs are allowed to mature they will damage your foliage and return the next year.

It is now time to reinstate your lawn care routine, focusing on regular watering and mowing.

Priority 1 Mowing: Maintain your lawn at a height of 2-2.5 inches, mowing frequently to prevent removing more than 1/3 of the grass blade length, which typically requires weekly mowing during the growing season. Afterward, adjust the mowing height to 2.5 inches for the remainder of the summer. In the spring, lower the mowing height to 2.0 inches to promote lateral growth and thickening.

Priority 2: Ensure your lawn receives at least 1 inch of water per week, increasing to 1.5 inches during heat and drought conditions. This typically necessitates watering three times per week for 20-30 minutes per zone. If you are subject to watering restrictions, optimize your allocated watering day and consider alternative sources of water. If you possess an irrigation restriction waiver for a newly established lawn, utilize it fully.
