Sometimes the roof isn't the loudest witness after a hailstorm.

At this home on Staghorn Ml in Converse, we didn't have to look very far to understand how intense the September 11 storm had been.

A roof-mounted skylight/cover had been badly damaged.

The homeowner's vehicle showed numerous apparent hail impacts.

Exterior equipment also carried visible marks from the event.

A hailstorm can be over in minutes. What it leaves behind can matter for years.

Two days after the September 11 storm, we were on a roof on Gulf Meadow in Converse, TX performing a free engineer-led hail damage inspection.

One thing was impossible to miss: a solar panel had suffered significant visible impact damage.

What can a 20+ year-old roof hide from street level? Quite a bit.

During a recent San Antonio roof inspection, we found an original laminated-shingle roof that had reached the point where several systems were beginning to fail at the same time:

🔸 Shingle adhesive seals had deteriorated after years of Texas heat
🔸 Wind had already loosened and removed shingles
🔸 The attic ventilation design needed improvement
🔸 Small critter-related openings had developed
🔸 Aging areas were showing significant granule loss
