Want to turn every head on the block? Step one: rip the roof off the house!
Clients often ask if building a home addition is easier than starting a new build from the ground up, and the reality is that it is usually quite the opposite. Tying a brand-new structure into an existing home brings a distinct set of challenges. Once you demo and unravel how the original house was built, you inevitably run into older building methods and materials that do not align with modern codes or current building practices. Add in tying new rooflines, matching wall planes, aligning floor elevations, bridging old framing to new, and the whole project can quickly turn into a complex puzzle.
When a roof is wide open to the elements, hesitation is not an option. You have to act fast, pivot on the fly, coordinate with the engineer, and solve problems before they snowball into actual setbacks. We’ve hit a few minor bumps, but by expecting the unexpected and building smart allowances into our budget from day one, we’ve protected our client from surprise change orders while keeping the project completely proactive and right on schedule. For us, these complexities are just part of the job—we treat every project with the exact same high standard. Whether it’s ground-up new construction or a complex addition, Losa has the experience, team, and technical knowledge to execute both flawlessly.
It has been all gas, no brakes, and we are officially closing in on the finish line for the exterior build. Happy clients, flawless ex*****on, and top-tier results. This is our final update on our Sammamish addition until the entire project is completely finished. Hit follow and stay tuned for the final reveal.
