Jacobsen Construction 103 years. 850 employee-owners. Scores of amazing projects. Every great company has a great story.

One goal: Building enduring communities!
goo.gl/FQt2dh Ours began with Danish teenager Soren Jacobsen, an aspiring builder who landed on Ellis Island in 1900 with $24 in his pocket and an American Dream: To change its skyline. After 100 years in business, our company continues to achieve Soren's goal by creating structures that thrill our clients and that serve our communities well. It's a process that challenges and inspires every day, and it's why we love to go to work.

We were proud to celebrate the groundbreaking of the McKay-Dee Hospital North Clinic & Medical Office Building expansion alongside our partners at Intermountain Health yesterday! More than just an expansion, this project will bring specialized care closer to home, enhance the patient experience and support the growing healthcare needs of the Ogden community.
We're excited to help bring this vision to life and build something that will make a lasting difference for generations to come.

October is Careers in Construction Month!

A Jacobsen career, much like the structures we create, is built to stand the test of time. More than 190 employee-owners have been at Jacobsen for at least 10 years, a credit to the rewarding work we get to do together as we build the places where life happens in our communities.

This Construction Inclusion Week, we’re celebrating the people who make our jobsites what they are — people of every background, every perspective, every skill set. When everyone on the crew feels respected, heard, and safe, we build better, safer, and stronger together!
Inclusion isn’t a one-week effort. It’s how we show up every day, on every site. 💪

Jacobsen is supporting Intermountain Health in their work of saving lives at one of Utah's most essential hospitals. 🏥

We are expanding the emergency department at Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, which will hold about 20 additional emergency treatment/exam rooms when construction is complete. The hospital's pulmonary unit was recently relocated to make room for the expansion.

The emergency department expansion is one of three sensitive Jacobsen projects at this hospital, which serves as a Level I Trauma Center. The other projects onsite are the recently completed ICU remodel and the ongoing upgrades to the NICU.

This , we’re highlighting an important resource for our people: Jacobsen’s certified Mental Health Peer Program.

Across Jacobsen, 74 certified Mental Health Peer Specialists are trained to recognize when someone may be struggling, listen without judgment and help connect colleagues with support and resources — on the jobsite and beyond.

"Life’s challenges can feel very heavy at times, but we are all in this together," said Gary Ellis, president and CEO. "Make sure those around you know and feel your support."

At our Fall Meeting, retired Air Force colonel and Astronaut Mike Mullane told the that "you don't have to be extraordinary to achieve extraordinary results."

"Set lofty goals. Don't be timid about challenging yourself," said Mullane, who flew on three space shuttle missions. "Don't be afraid of failure."

Recalling the lessons of the shuttle program's Challenger tragedy, Mullane urged our jobsite teams to empower every builder to raise safety concerns: "It takes guts to stand up and say, 'No, we're not going to shortcut this.'"

As we head into September’s final weekend, we’re looking back on a month that gave us much to honor.

This video, Building the American Dream, shared a title with our Jacobsen Client & Partner Breakfast event and was created to recognize two significant milestones: 25 years since September 11, 2001, and America’s 250th birthday.

But at its heart, it is a tribute to the people who have built, rebuilt and continue to build the American dream, city by city, community by community, generation after generation.

To the builders, dreamers, craftspeople and partners whose hands and minds shape the places where America lives, works, heals, gathers and grows: this one is for you. 🇺🇸

Sometimes the most important thing we can do for someone is remind them they don’t have to carry life’s challenges alone.

Project Superintendent Mike Johnson shares a simple reminder about the importance of looking out for one another:

“Know you are good, you are needed, you are enough, you are loved. Life is so hard sometimes, and that will never change. Lean on those around you and ... be the one that can be leaned on.”

Jacobsen's renovation of the Intermountain Medical Center ICU is nearing completion!

Protecting ongoing patient care has been the central challenge and top priority of the project since day one. The project team here has upgraded 24 ICU treatment rooms across numerous phases on levels five and six, typically completing about two units at a time, all while accounting for highly sensitive conditions inside the active hospital.

The new treatment rooms will better support the highest standards of intensive care provided by Intermountain Health physicians and their teams.
