A driveway is a major investment in your home. Don’t make the mistake of choosing a contractor based only on the cheapest price. Instead, look for the best long-term value from a company you trust to stand behind their work.

Before hiring any paving contractor, make sure they have:

✔️ A valid MHIC License
Protects consumers and ensures the contractor meets Maryland requirements for insurance and licensing.

✔️ A real Google Business page
Public reviews matter. Look for companies with an established reputation and transparent customer feedback.

✔️ A physical office location
A stable company should have a real place of business you can visit if needed.

✔️ A professional website
A long-term investment in their business usually reflects a long-term commitment to customers.

✔️ A detailed written proposal & contract
This protects BOTH parties and clearly explains the scope of work, materials, warranty, and expectations.

✔️ A warranty with clear terms

• Be a Responsible Host: If you’re hosting, ensure your guests have safe transportation options and discourage impaired driving.
• Stay Vigilant: If you see someone attempting to drive under the influence, intervene and help them find a safe alternative.

At Surface Solutions, we work hard to keep Delmarva’s roads safe and functional, but safety isn’t just up to us—it’s a team effort. That’s why we’re reminding you about the importance of the Maryland Move Over Law.

This law isn’t just about following rules; it’s about saving lives. It requires drivers to:
✔️ Move Over: If you see emergency vehicles, tow trucks, utility vehicles, disabled vehicles, or road workers stopped on the side of the road with flashing lights, move over to an adjacent lane.
✔️ Slow Down: If moving over isn’t possible, reduce your speed to ensure the safety of those working or responding to an emergency.

Every year, countless workers and first responders are injured—or worse—because drivers fail to give them the space they need to do their jobs safely.

I’m not sure about all of you, but there’s just something about fresh pavement and crisp, clean striping that makes me pause and say, “Ahhh.”
