Ever grab a drawer and your fingers slide right off the k**b?

Hardware size is one of those small choices you feel every single day. A tiny k**b on a wide drawer is hard to grip and looks lost on the front. Go too big and a long bar starts catching pockets and crowding the cabinet. The rule of thumb we use is about a third of the drawer width, so a 36 inch drawer gets a 12 inch pull and a 24 inch drawer gets something close to 8 inches. Narrow drawers are fine with a k**b.

Ever finish washing up and feel it in your lower back?

It might be your vanity, not your back. For years, 30 inches was the standard vanity height, and for most grown-ups that means bending over the sink every single morning. Comfort height vanities sit at 36 inches, the same as a kitchen counter, so you can stand tall while you rinse. In the bathrooms we remodel around Salisbury, that's the height we recommend most for main and primary baths.

Two exceptions worth knowing. A kids' bath still works great at 30 to 32 inches. And if you love the look of a vessel sink, the bowl adds about 6 inches on top, so pair it with a 30 inch vanity and the rim lands right around 36.

Save this before you pick a vanity for your next bathroom remodel.

Ever walk into a kitchen and instantly feel how it flows?

That was the goal with this remodel. A space that works just as smoothly as it looks.

Warm wood base cabinets, clean white uppers, and a long island that anchors the whole room with prep space, seating, and storage all in one spot. Those white shaker uppers are doing a lot of the heavy lifting here, carrying both the style and the function.

What we love most is how the layout supports real life. A coffee station tucked neatly to the side, plenty of counter space, and lighting that finally makes the whole kitchen feel bright and open.

If you were remodeling your own kitchen, which part of this space would make your life easier?

White cabinets just got knocked out of the top spot.

In 2026, 29% of homeowners chose wood cabinets over white, a six-point jump from last year, and white slid down to the second spot. Around here, we're seeing warm wood tones show up in kitchen after kitchen: honey oak, warm-beige browns, walnut-inspired finishes. It's not just a color shift either. Wood shows natural grain and character that paint can't replicate, so no two kitchens end up looking exactly the same after years of everyone choosing the same white kitchen.

If you're planning a kitchen remodel, it's worth seeing these tones in person before defaulting to white.

Getting ready for a remodel is just as important as the remodel itself.

Before our crew shows up on day one, there are a few things that make the whole process go smoother. Clear the work area. Lock in your material selections early. Set up a temporary kitchen setup if needed. Prep for some dust and noise during demo. And know who to call if a question comes up mid-project.

The homeowners who do a little prep work before we start are always the ones who have the smoothest experience from start to finish.

Swipe through for the full checklist and save it for when your project gets closer.

One of the biggest questions we get before a remodel starts: do we have to move out?

In most cases, no. Kitchen and bathroom remodels can be done while you stay in your home. We work in stages, protect the surrounding areas, and keep disruption as low as possible throughout the process.

For a full kitchen gut, a temporary setup like a mini fridge and microwave for a few weeks makes things easier. But packing up and leaving? Usually not necessary.

We keep you informed every step of the way so there are no surprises.

Same sink, several faucets, only one is the pick.

Faucet style changes the whole feel of a kitchen more than people expect. A tall gooseneck can make a space feel more modern, while a shorter, curved style leans more traditional. Even small differences in shape and height change how the whole space reads.

Which faucet style would you pick for this space?

We've spent 25 years doing kitchen remodels across the Carolinas, and there are a few things we tell almost every homeowner before they start.

1. Set your budget before you fall in love with finishes. It's easier to make smart choices when you know your number going in, instead of working backward from a material you can't actually afford.

2. Don't skip the layout conversation. A kitchen can look beautiful and still be frustrating to cook in if the workflow doesn't make sense for how you actually use the space.

3. Don't wait too long to finalize your material selections. Countertop and tile availability can shift, and locking in your choices early keeps your project moving without delays waiting on backorders.

4. Pick countertops for how you live, not just how they photograph. Busy families need something durable and low maintenance more than they need a dramatic pattern.

5. Ask about financing options upfront. A remodel doesn't have to be all at once out of pocket, and knowing your options early can open up choices you didn't think were on the table.

Save this before you start planning your next remodel.

This countertop doesn't get talked about nearly as much as it should.

Porcelain slab is made by firing clay and minerals at extreme heat, then pressing them into large, thin slabs that mimic the look of natural stone like marble or quartzite. It costs less than most natural stone, resists scratches, stains, and heat better than marble, and comes in large formats, which means fewer seams across an island or countertop run.

It's also non-porous, so it doesn't need sealing the way some natural stone does, and it holds up well in high traffic kitchens over time.

Same wow factor, smarter investment.

Would you consider porcelain slab for your next countertop?
