SPS is proud to have be part of the Route 79/Davol Street Corridor Improvements Project on the D.W. White Construction - SPS New England Joint Venture with HNTB. This project was recently named as the American Society of Highway Engineers (ASHE) New England Section Project of the Year in the projects over $100 million category.
This project de-elevated and removed the Route 79 expressway, which allowed for both more waterfront access and approximately 21 acres of new open space.
This project will finish ahead of schedule, and it features the reconstruction of one bridge, four retaining walls, 3,000 linear feet of box culvert, six new stormwater infiltration basins, two new outfalls to the Taunton River, six new and reconstructed traffic signals, 100 pedestrian curb ramps, removal of 115,000 CY of earth, relocation of thousands of feet of utilities, and four miles of shared-use paths.
