Mother Nature brought approximately 6” of rain overnight Saturday into Sunday, forcing a road closure at an active construction location on I-35/KTA, just north of the South Haven interchange (MM 9). Our crews were quickly on the scene to assess the situation and make the needed repairs. While NB traffic was able to reopen later the same day, SB traffic opening was delayed due to the need for some pavement repair.
Huge thank you to KTA engineering, Wichita and Wellington maintenance crews, KTA's Incident Management Center, Kansas Department of Transportation - South Central Kansas, Kansas Highway Patrol, Sumner County Sheriff's Office, Oklahoma Highway Patrol and several contractors (Alan's Excavating, Pearson Construction, Reece Construction, Cillessen & Sons and APAC) for their quick response to this significant rainfall event.
