There are nearly 5,000 acres of land in Roanoke neighborhoods - that land could support wildlife.

If we prioritized biodiversity, our neighborhoods could serve as beautiful homegrown national parks right here in Roanoke.

Here’s an early Fall gardening tip for you.

A lot of your plants are going to be approaching the end of their blooming season. “Deadheading” the old growth will promote new growth and get you more flowers in the future.

Make sure to get this done now before the cold starts to set in so your plants are healthy and ready for winter.

This is one of the most important times of year for maintaining the health of your lawn.

Check out some of the things we recommend doing before the fall chill hits.

➡️Weed Control: They're especially vulnerable right now so take the chance to knock them out!
➡️ Fertilize: The roots are still active and need the extra boost before the soon to come freeze.
➡️ Deep and Infrequent Watering: You can overwater your lawn, be cautious especially when it is hot.
➡️ Keep the Grass Tall: Raise the height on your blade to keep your grass shaded from the heat.
➡️ Overseeding: Now is the best time to seed your lawn, the warm soil and rain keep the seeds nice and cozy.
