🔨 Waterfront Tip of the Day!

It’s a double-post kind of day because our Interior Lead, Matt, (yes I have two leads named Matt) sent us this great little behind-the-scenes tip!

Want custom crown molding without buying one oversized piece? Matt shows how you can layer standard baseboard and trim molding to create a completely custom crown profile—with more character and a high-end finished look.

Sometimes the best details aren’t bought—they’re built. 👏

Watch Matt work his trim magic, and save this idea for your next remodel!

👶🩷 The Waterfront Remodeling family just got a little bigger!

Congratulations to our Exterior Lead, Matt, and his family on the arrival of their beautiful baby girl, Emilia!

We’re respecting the family’s privacy and won’t be posting a picture of Emilia—but we can show you Matthew #, which is technically about 50% of what she looks like. 😂

Matt builds some pretty incredible things for us, (and we can't wait to have him back) but we have a feeling Emilia may be his best project yet!

Welcome to the Waterfront Remodeling family, little Emilia! We can’t wait to meet you—hopefully at the company Christmas party! 🎄🩷

Wishing the whole family lots of love, happiness and—eventually—sleep!

POV: You show up to move into your new showroom—and the ceiling comes down with the drywall. 😳

Yesterday was supposed to be move-in day at Waterfront Remodeling’s new warehouse, office and future showroom.

We knew we wanted to remodel it a little.

What we did not expect was years of hidden termite and water damage. Once we began opening the walls, damaged framing, drywall and portions of the ceiling started coming down around us.

My field crews were already committed to our customers’ projects, and I wasn’t pulling them away. So I grabbed my project manager Courtney, and my haul away chick Diane and said:

“Are you guys down to knock this whole thing out with me today?.”

And that is exactly what we did.

Three women. One day. An entire office stripped down to the block walls. Truckloads of debris removed. Every hidden condition exposed and documented so we could immediately work toward a resolution with property management—and keep pushing toward being operational Monday.

Was this how we planned to start this chapter? Absolutely not.

But remodeling has taught us something: when you open a wall, you may not like what you find. The difference is what you do next.

We didn’t panic.
We didn’t pull our crews away from paying customers.
We put on our masks, picked up the tools and handled it.

This showroom may have started with a collapse—but Waterfront Remodeling sure didn’t.

Now we rebuild. 💪🔨

Follow along, because this transformation is going to be WILD.

🚨 HELP US DESIGN THE NEW WATERFRONT REMODELING SHOWROOM!

We are moving into our new bigger showroom and warehouse on SEPTEMBER 1st. We’re taking down the walls and turning this space into a brand-new showroom where our clients can see, touch and compare kitchen, bathroom, flooring, lighting, decking and exterior products.

Before we start building everything, we want to hear from YOU.

Design trends are changing:

🤎 Warm wood is replacing cool gray
🌿 Greens, blues, browns and mushroom tones are replacing stark white-everything
🎨 Color drenching, limewash and Roman-clay-style walls are trending
🪵 Fluted wood and decorative wall molding are everywhere
🚪 Hidden doors and arched openings are making a comeback
✨ Mixed metals are replacing perfectly matched finishes
💡 Integrated LED and layered lighting are replacing rows of recessed lights
🚿 Curbless showers, microcement looks and large-format tile are gaining popularity
🛁 Floating and furniture-style vanities are replacing builder-basic bathrooms
🏠 Statement ceilings and full-height backsplashes are becoming major focal points

But we want to know which trends people would actually put in their homes—not just save on Pinterest!

Vote in our polls on our story and leave us a comment:

What should we incorporate into the new showroom? And what viral construction or design trend would you like Waterfront Remodeling to build, test or explain in a future video?

You’re helping us build this showroom, so don’t be shy! 🔨

🥉 SO APPARENTLY YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO ACTUALLY VOTE IF YOU WANT TO WIN THESE THINGS. 😂

Waterfront Remodeling has officially been voted BRONZE for Best Deck & Patio Company!

Our strategy was flawless:

First, we didn't know we were nominated.

Then somebody told us.

We got excited, made ONE post about it…

…and promptly got buried in work and completely forgot the competition existed. 😂

No ongoing campaign.

No daily reminders.

No rallying the troops.

We didn't even consistently remember to vote for ourselves.

10/10 marketing strategy. Would definitely recommend. 😂

Then the results came out:

TOP THREE. 🥉

In our FIRST YEAR EVER being nominated.

And we're not gonna lie — we're pretty damn proud of that.

The other top companies weren't even primarily deck builders. The Gold winner was an aluminum company.

Meanwhile, Waterfront Remodeling is out here every week designing, permitting and building custom decks with our own in-house crew.

So placing in the top three of Best Deck & Patio Company when we barely remembered there was a vote happening?

We'll take that ALL DAY. 🔨💙

More importantly, it means people voted for us without being reminded over and over to do it.

You remembered our name.

You remembered our work.

And you showed up for this little family-owned company.

THANK YOU.

But now we've been made aware that this is a competition.

And, well…

We're competitive. 😈

🥉 2026: Bronze by accident.
🥇 2027: Gold on purpose.

Next year we're remembering to vote.

We're reminding YOU to vote.

And we're coming for that Best Deck & Patio Company GOLD.

Because if we're going to have a category for the best deck company…

we think a deck company should win it. 😉🔨

Small business ownership doesn't come with sick days. But it does come with a pretty incredible team. 💙

This week has been a reminder that behind every small family business is… well, a family.

Tuesday night, back-to-school sickness officially made its way into our house when my daughter came home with COVID. I left work to pick her up and stayed home Wednesday to take care of her and make sure I wasn't exposing my crew or our customers.

Thursday morning, it got me.

Fever. Body aches. Completely wiped out. I basically slept for the next 24 hours.

Today I'm finally starting to feel human again, just extremely exhuasted — but I'm still staying isolated and keeping my distance from everyone.

So this is what running Waterfront Remodeling looks like today. 😂

N95 on.
Office door closed.
Disinfectant nearby.
Project Manager on FaceTime.
Estimates still getting worked on.
Jobs still moving.

And it made me realize something.

Social media usually shows you the finished decks. The beautiful kitchens. The before-and-afters. The projects we're proud of.

It doesn't always show you this part.

The sick kid.

The 103° fever.

The days when the owner can't be on the jobsite.

The FaceTime meetings.

The employees who step up without being asked.

The juggling act between being a mom, running a company, taking care of customers, and occasionally remembering that I'm supposed to take care of myself too. 😂

That's the reality of a family-owned business.

Waterfront Remodeling isn't a giant corporation. There isn't another branch somewhere that takes over when life happens.

There's a team of real people who care about this company, our customers, and each other.

And this week, I'm especially grateful for them.

The crew kept building.
Our Project Manager kept projects moving.
Customers were understanding.
And I got to be Mom when my daughter needed me.

We're still here.

Maybe slightly more disinfected than usual. 😂

Cutting lumber. Not corners. Even when the boss is quarantined. 🔨🤧

You might look at this picture and think... why is this significant?

To us, it's everything.

We were building a standard deck with a simple set of stairs when my lead carpenter, Matt, and his second Shawn, called me with an idea. They wanted to add this picture frame stair inlay—not because it was in the contract, but because they believed it would make the finished project look better and help clearly define the step down.

Since this deck sits less than 30 inches off the ground, railings aren't required by code. They thought this small detail would provide an extra visual cue, making the stairs easier to recognize while adding a custom, finished look.

Their only question was:

"Can we do it without charging the homeowner?"

My answer was easy.

Absolutely.

That's the culture we're building at Waterfront Remodeling. We don't just build what's on the plans—we look for opportunities to make every project a little safer, a little better, and a little more custom, even when nobody's paying us to.

It's never about doing the minimum. It's about leaving every project better than we found it.

So there's one week until school starts and I dragged my 11 year-old in the field with me today from 6 AM to 6 PM.

I told her I was gonna teach her some things and that if she kept her eye out for a good social media moment, that would be helpful.

Well, during the day she took numerous photos and videos most of the time when I was completely unaware, edited them altogether by herself and created this video for me.

I thought it was too sweet, real, and candid not to share.

The real point of view of managing four active jobsites from the eyes of an 11 year old.

And my lovely daughter, Avianna, says you have to watch the whole thing🤪
