The farm stand is on hold for a while. We had a family emergency that shook things up for May/June, and I am now focusing on spending time with family, getting things on the homefront taken care of, and tending to my mental health. Thanks for your support! ❤️

Made these from scratch using recipe…so so good, and SUPER easy! Excited to add one more item to the list of things we don’t need to buy pre-packaged.

Full disclosure: I did not order these caterpillars. Personally I chose not to because they are not and it felt like some weird “playing God” experiment to order caterpillars through the mail & have them shipped, only to watch them crawl around a tiny plastic cup for a week before forming a chrysalis, then watching them morph before releasing butterflies into a habitat that may not be right for them. But there was a miscommunication and they were ordered & delivered to me anyway. 🤦🏻‍♀️

I researched what they eat and luckily, I have a few of those items in my garden. My students loved watching them grow and change, and voted unanimously to release them in my garden at home (as opposed to at school, where there is nothing for them to eat), as long as I took a video. That made me proud and gave me hope for the future.

This documentary absolutely shook me. I knew a lot of our foods are being poisoned by chemicals and pesticides, but I had no idea it was to this extent — seeds are everything and they are taking those away, too. Also I thought GMO seeds meant cross-breeding two different types of the same vegetable…but it’s actually the result of a plant being injected with actual pig DNA, human DNA, etc. I am glad we are growing a lot of our own vegetables, and am committed to continuing to learn more and grow more independent of this system.

One of my favorite things: Hand-picking flowers from our garden to bring to family and friends. This is a small bouquet I put together to complement a gift for a friend. I just love to add something homegrown with a personal touch.

Recently I looked out my window and saw something that initially seemed strange: Two people I hadn’t met before, holding a bowl and pointing at some of our plants. Hmm. Plant robbers? Mulberry foragers? I opened the front door, walked outside, and introduced myself with a smile.

Surprise! Turns out these sweet peeps were fellow plant-loving neighbors, come to visit our milkweed and drop off a few of their caterpillars bc their 🌱 supply was running low and they didn’t want the 🐛 to go hungry. What amazing humans! 🤩 I knew as soon as they explained (and told me they had permission from my Dad, who they met recently) that these are my people, y’all! I remember our first couple of seasons here when we were SO excited to finally see caterpillars on our milkweed, but then felt SO badly when we realized how much they were eating and how little milkweed was left for them as they continued to grow and eat.

We have tons of milkweed now, some native and some not (we are introducing more natives!), and grateful to have plenty to share!! Happy to meet others in our community who care for and love wildlife, too.

So happy to have had the open again this weekend! Y’all are the best. Today I am test baking a new rosemary + garlic + cheese loaf. Super stoked to use my beautiful garlic grater/herb stripper from .ceramics ☺️ up until I saw this recently at I actually had never heard of one. But it is fun and simple to use, and I love it!
