I get seriously distracted by all these flowers every time I go into my front yard. Butterflies and bees everywhere. 😍

The sunshine mimosa is putting on quite a show this year. No irrigation, not even with the drought.

This was planted in the bare spots of a sparse lawn. Soft and walkable. Mowable.

Before and After

This was a fun project! Our client wanted to grow food fast. In the summertime, in Florida. Challenge accepted!

We designed and installed an edible garden in half of her backyard featuring fruit trees, a raised garden bed, and a wall of sturdy trellises lining the fence.

Within a few short months, it had sprung to life with a pretty good harvest.

We are accepting new clients for edible landscape installations, food forest maintenance (clean ups, fertilizing and pruning), and garden refresh/replanting services.

It's getting warmer out! We all know summer's just around the corner. It's the perfect time to plant a tree.

Grow some shade to make the beautiful outdoors more comfortable year round. Added bonus - plants in part shade will need significantly less irrigation.

This tree is a Winged Elm. It is a native shade tree that tends to stay more narrow rather than wide which is great for our smaller urban lots. We really like to use this in areas where more sun in the winter is preferred as it is deciduous (drops its leaves in the winter)

Looking to plant trees? Reach out today so we can make a plan that best suits your space and needs.

Sunshine mimosa is blooming!

This native groundcover is thriving despite our severe drought conditions. Once established, it needs very little (if any) irrigation, no fertilizer, and minimal mowing/trimming. It is soft on bare feet and can handle some foot traffic.

This particular lawn is a mix of mimosa and bahia grass and still needs to be mowed. Mimosa was planted in the bare areas. A few years later, the lawn is full and lush, without any bare spots.

Looking to drought proof your lawn? Cover up that bare soil? Try mimosa!

It's National Invasive Species Awareness Week.

When you are looking into various plants in Florida, you might be surprised to know that many common landscape plants are listed as invasive. There are different classifications for invasiveness which are defined here. Mostly commonly, you will see them listed as a Category I or Category II invasive species.

Plants that are being assessed for invasiveness are not necessarily ever going to become invasive, but they might which is why they are being monitored for UF/IFAS.

Important info to note:

Native plants CANNOT be considered invasive. They could be considered aggressive.
Just because it isn't spreading around in your yard doesn't mean it isn't impacting areas in your neighborhood or watershed.
Many invasive plants are spread by birds. They eat the seeds then p**p them out. That's why you often see invasive plants sprouting up under power lines or trees, or along fences. Perfect perches for the birdies to do their business.

We offer landscape consultations to identify plant species in your yard, and can make a plan with you to remove and replace them with beautiful native plants that will thrive!
