Our last job for the week, lost keys on a 02 Toyota Highlander. These older Toyota systems keys can't be wrote via the OBD without a master key. So we had to remove the ECU, read the 8 leg EEPROM, extract the bin file, put it in our software to generate new keys, then once we write the new keys in the bin file then write that file back into the ECU. Once thats complete put the ECU back into the car and the new keys will start it. A $85 spare key quickly turns in hundreds of dollars. If taken to the dealership it requires a new ECU and new keys!

When we say we do advance key programming this is some of the behind the scenes what most customers don't see. This is a CEM unit out of a 08 Range rover. Customer lost his only key, when it turns into an all keys lost we can no longer add keys via the OBD. This process is done by reading the MCU to get the key data out of the micro processor and adding a key in via a new bin (binary code) file. Once we get back to the car we plug the CEM unit back in and the key should be able to start the car. This is only part of the process for making lost keys, then we had to pull the door lock apart and decode it for the mechanical key to turn the ignition on.

We have officially completed all of the requirements to become a Vehicle Security Professional through NASTF!

What does this mean? If you've called recently for a key fob on a newer vehicle & heard "we can't access that YET, but we're working on it", now we can access it!

We can now program all automotive keys through 2027!

Here's one of our jobs from yesterday customer called and had complaints about their ignition for their 2010 Ford Focus was turning hard or at times not turning at all. We replaced their ignition with an OEM equivalent ignition, pinned it so the door lock and ignition used their orginal key and cut and programmed them a new key.
