When water finds its way into a home near a chimney, the problem isn’t always the chimney itself. The connection between the roof, shingles, and flashing is an important area to inspect.

Three areas deserve extra attention:

✔ Step flashing along the sides of the chimney
✔ Counter-flashing where the flashing meets the masonry
✔ The back of the chimney, where water needs to be properly directed around the structure

Have you ever noticed a smoky or musty odor coming from your fireplace during the summer?

Warm, humid air can push odors down the chimney and into your home. Creosote, moisture, soot, animal nests, and other debris can all contribute to unpleasant odors.

A small crack today can become a major repair tomorrow.

Your chimney crown is the concrete surface at the very top of your chimney. Its job is to direct water away from the masonry.
