Some of the deepest roots in my life have been grown through caring for others. 💚
Several days a week, I get to spend time with a beautiful 19-year-old girl named Isabelle, and what began as a PCA role has become so much more than a job.
Isabelle has cerebral palsy, but if you know her, you know that is only one small part of her story.
She is funny, adventurous, determined, and full of life. She loves hunting, camping, boating, shopping, exploring, and making memories… and I get the joy of being part of many of those adventures.
Most of our days are spent on her family’s farm… surrounded by cows, chickens, dogs, a tortoise, open skies, and the kind of simple moments that remind you what really matters.
This picture, with the dogs, sunshine, and all of us together, feels like a little snapshot of joy.
Caregiving has been woven through so much of my life… as a daughter, a mother, a friend, and now with Isabelle. It has taught me that love is often found in the ordinary moments… a walk outside, a shared laugh, a quiet ride, muddy shoes, wagging tails, and simply being present.
The truth is… I may be there to support Isabelle, but she has given me just as much in return.
More laughter.
More perspective.
More gratitude.
And a whole lot of love.
These are the roots that continue to shape me… reminding me that growth doesn’t always happen in big moments. Sometimes it grows quietly… in connection, kindness, and the privilege of walking alongside another human being.
