Another house foundation completed for D&S Custom Homes LLC.

It’s always a priority to properly place a house to the lot to ensure there is easy access to all levels, proper drainage, and a balance of excavated material to blend around the house.

Here’s is a few task we completed on this dig.
•10+ walnut trees removed.
•strip and store top soil
•lay out house
•excavate foundation and footing
•added construction drive

We were on a wild goose chase yesterday. What started as a simple waterline repair ended up as a full waterline replacement.
The water was surfacing 40–50 feet away from the actual break. The asphalt parking lot had a geo-fabric underlayment that dispersed the water everywhere except where the pipe was actually broken.
How long do you think this fitting had a hole in it to nearly cut through the entire 2” brass retention collar?

We were proud to be part of this exceptional project from beginning to end.
Our team successfully completed the following scope of work:
• Stump and brush removal from the logger’s site
• Foundation excavation
• Septic system installation
• Driveway re-grading
• Construction of additional parking area adjacent to the residence
• Complete site re-grading
It was a pleasure contributing to the successful transformation of the property.

We recently placed approximately 600 tons of fill material on a building pad in 6-inch lifts with rigorous compaction at each layer. A 70,000-pound dump truck backed over more than three feet of the compacted fill, resulting in only minor surface flattening and no settlement. I would say that’s a job well done!

Social media has folks thinking everybody with a dozer, excavator, or dump truck is making money hand over fist.

The truth?

A lot of us are one major breakdown away from having a really bad month.

People see the equipment.

They don’t see the bank note on it.

They see us loading up for a job.

They don’t see the insurance bill, fuel bill, repairs, maintenance, permits, payroll, or the weeks rain keeps us parked while every payment still comes due.

This industry isn’t for the weak.

Then you’ve got people with little to no experience buying a machine and calling themselves contractors. They throw out prices that don’t even cover the cost of doing the job right, and customers jump on it because it’s “saving money.”

Until the job starts washing away.
Until the drainage doesn’t work.
Until the pad settles.
Until the road falls apart.
Until they can’t get the contractor back on the phone.

Then they’re paying somebody else to do it right.

The cheapest bid is rarely the cheapest job.

There’s a reason some companies have been around for years and others disappear after a season.

Reputation isn’t built by being the cheapest.

It’s built by showing up, doing quality work, standing behind it, and treating people right.

Support the contractors who have put in the years, learned the trade, and earned their name. In this business, experience isn’t an extra. It’s everything.
