Sebastian Harbor Marina | Progress Update #12 🎉⚓️

It may look quiet on the docks this Saturday morning, but that’s about to change! 🛥️🌴

John Valdes and Nico Recore are busy getting the office AND the docks ready to welcome our first guests to Sebastian Harbor Marina! Furniture is being assembled, final painting and signage are coming together, and all those finishing touches are happening as we prepare to officially bring the marina to life. 🙌⚓️

And we hit another BIG milestone this week! 📩🛥️

Our first round of slip applications was sent out to boaters who previously submitted slip inquiries through our website. After months of construction, restoration and behind-the-scenes preparation, we’re getting closer to seeing boats at these docks!

A special shoutout to Desi for tackling that desk assembly. John seems pretty happy to let him handle all those pieces. 😂🔨

The view from the new dockmaster’s office isn’t too bad either! 🌊☀️

Sebastian Harbor Marina | Progress Update #11 🌊⚓️

We’re getting CLOSE! 🛥️🙌

In our September 25 progress update, John Valdes takes us around Sebastian Harbor Marina as we move into the final stretch before welcoming boats to the docks!

🚜 Brance Diversified Dredging has been hard at work completing the final dredging of the marina basin, and DeGrove Survey has now been on site taking soundings to verify our target depth of -7 feet at mean low water. We’re excited to see those final results!

✨ The nearly 20-year-old Ipe decking is being cleaned and restored beautifully.

📹 Security camera and Wi-Fi masts are being installed throughout the docks.

⚓ Hayward Marine Construction has completed piling modifications, including heavier pilings where needed and additional protection between the floating docks and bulkhead.

🔐 New security fencing and gates are also going up to separate marina operations from the future hotel construction area.

After more than 20 years without an operating marina, we are now talking about weeks, not months, before boats begin arriving at Sebastian Harbor Marina! 🎉🛥️⚓️

⚓️ Sebastian Harbor Marina | Progress Update #10

We’re getting closer! 🙌

In today’s update, John Valdes takes us around the marina as some of the final pieces are coming together.

Brance Diversified Dredging is back on site completing the final dredging of the basin, removing approximately 3,000 cubic yards of accumulated sediment and bringing the basin to a target depth of -7 feet at mean low water.

Meanwhile, nearly 20-year-old Ipe decking is being cleaned and restored, and the team is putting finishing touches on the pilings, pile guides and fender pilings throughout the marina.

Our new marina office is also ready to support operations as we move closer to welcoming our first boats. 🛥️

After years of sitting unfinished, it’s pretty exciting to watch Sebastian Harbor Marina come back to life on the San Sebastian River! 💙⚓️

🏡 273 South Matanzas | Project Video #24

Another visit to one of John Valdes’ favorite projects!

This time, it’s all about the finishing touches. Daniel Horowitz and his crew are giving the home a fresh exterior paint job, including transitioning some of the original natural cedar to a painted finish for better longevity.

Over the course of this project, we’ve added and restored quite a bit: the second-floor addition, storm protection wall and pumping system, pool and deck improvements, putting green, refurbished dock, spa, landscaping and more.

Now the fresh paint is bringing it all together. And that green is looking pretty sharp! 💚🏡

Happy 461st to St. Augustine! 🗝️Founded on September 8, 1565, St. Augustine is the oldest continuously occupied settlement of European and African American origin in the United States. The city was established 42 years before Jamestown and 55 years before the Pilgrims arrived at Plymouth Rock.

Founded by Spanish Admiral Pedro Menéndez de Avilés, he chose the colony’s name because he spotted land from his ship on August 28, the feast day of Saint Augustine of Hippo.

Sebastian Harbor Marina - St. Augustine

Progress Update | Video #9 ⚓

Happy Labor Day from Sebastian Harbor Marina! 🇺🇸⚓ John Valdes is on-site sharing the latest progress as we move closer to opening.

Hayward Construction’s barge is in the basin completing piling work, and Brance Dredging is expected to arrive soon to begin dredging operations. The ramp has also been relocated, which is great news as we continue improving access throughout the marina.

This coming week, the team will be finishing up the docks and beginning the deck refinishing process so the entire dock system has a clean, refreshed appearance. 🚤

John is also measuring the spacing between the fender pilings installed along the pier between the floating docks and the bulkhead. These pilings play an important role in protecting the dock system during high tides, storms, and heavy wind conditions. Blocking will be installed between the dock rollers and the pilings to help transfer the pressure created by boats, wind, and wave action directly into the concrete bulkhead. This design helps prevent the docks from shifting and protects the fender pilings, railing, and overall dock structure.

Even on a holiday, there is plenty happening behind the scenes to make Sebastian Harbor Marina safe, durable, and ready for boaters. The new marina building is taking shape, with the AC Hotel by Marriott St. Augustine just steps away and the beautiful San Sebastian River as the backdrop. 🌴☀️
