Sitting here watching a fire burn on a job site, I’ve had a lot of time to think.
I have a “stalker” on my Facebook who apparently thinks I’m a weirdo because I used the word “Daddy” in a post wishing my daughter, who may not be my daughter by blood, a happy birthday.
Well, let me make something very clear: SHE IS MY DAUGHTER.
She is no different to me than my other two daughters. She is mine, and I will protect her just like I protect all of my kids. Yes, she drives me absolutely crazy sometimes 😂, but she’s 16. What 16-year-old doesn’t drive their dad crazy? And let’s be honest, most of them only remember Dad exists when they need money! 😂
But jokes aside, I’ve seen things, I’ve watched videos, and I’ve been there. And I will continue to be there.
I want all five of my kids to know something: I will stand beside you no matter what.
Even if it breaks my heart.
Even if I disagree with your choices.
Even if I have to step aside.
Even if I don’t get recognized.
Even if I have to let someone else be there in a way I once thought would be my place.
I will still stand behind you, support you, and love you.
I’m not here to decide your life for you. I’m not here to force you to do anything you don’t want to do. You are your own person, and your choices are yours to make.
My job as your dad is to love you, support you, guide you when you want or need it, and protect you when I can.
And sometimes, protecting my kids may mean doing it quietly, from the shadows, without them even knowing I’m there.
Because blood does not define a child, and it certainly doesn’t define a father.
A dad—or a Daddy—is a man who chooses to love his children, takes that responsibility seriously, and stands beside them no matter what.
I have three beautiful daughters and two amazing boys, and I thank God every day for giving them to me.
Nothing they decide will ever change the fact that they are my kids.
I may not always agree with them. I may not always understand their decisions. I may even worry myself sick over them.
But I will love them all the same.
I will be proud of each and every one of them.
And no matter where life takes them, no matter who they become, no matter whether they need me standing beside them or standing quietly in the background…
Daddy will always be there.
I love all five of my kids more than words could ever explain.
And that will never change. ❤️
