Another summer with our interns has come to a close.

We sent them off with happy hours in Sacramento and Irvine, where they also unveiled the final installations from our annual design challenge, the culmination of weeks of concept development, critiques, and hands-on construction.

Thank you to this summer's interns for the energy, curiosity, and talent you brought to our studios. We can't wait to see where your careers take you next!

Last week, our Civic studio had the pleasure of hosting our second design bar of the year! The task for this competition was to create a model chair for an assigned client using the provided kit of parts and some other materials found around the office. The clients were pretty unusual and prompted unique chair designs that were all super fun to see!

The transformation is complete!

After weeks of concept development, design critiques, and hands-on construction, our intern teams in Sacramento and Irvine have unveiled their final installations, bringing their winning designs to life using primarily found and recycled materials.

What started as an underutilized space in each office is now a colorful, intentional environment built entirely by our summer interns, guided by our Interior Design studio along the way.

This challenge asked our interns to adapt to a space, work within real constraints (such as budget and including characters like Shrek and Bob Ross), and design with purpose from start to finish. The results speak for themselves.
