Ever wonder what we get up to in the office? Today: putting tape on the floor. 🩹

We mapped out the real-life size of a park feature we're planning, so everyone could actually walk around it instead of just looking at a number on a plan.

Is it a little silly? Sure. Did it work? Also yes.

By the time you see the finished version, all of this is invisible. But it's where most of the real work happens.

WDS took on the North State BIA co****le tournament this month! 🌽

Did we win? No. Were we close to winning? Also no. Did we make the championship bracket? We absolutely did, and we're going to keep saying that until someone stops us.

Thanks to North State BIA for a fun day and to everyone who came out. Congrats to the actual winners — we'll get you next year. 🏆

Big news — Prospector Park just won APWA's Project of the Year for Parks and Trails! 🏆

Multi-use fields, basketball and volleyball courts, a baseball diamond, a play area with a zipline, and a dog park with separate sides for small and large pups. There's something out there for just about everyone.

Congratulations to the City of Folsom Parks & Recreation Department, Bennett Engineering Services The Engineering Enterprise, and The KYA Group — we're proud to have been part of this one.

What a night! 🌿☀️ The WDS team had a wonderful time at the ASLA Summer Picnic at Garden at the Line — great food, great people, and a reminder of why we love this community of landscape architects. And a special shoutout to Connor for taking home a raffle prize — clearly the luck was on our side! Proud to support ASLA and the incredible work happening across our region.

Recognition means the most when it reflects the work behind it. 🏆 We're proud to share that Prospector Park has been named Project of the Year by the Sacramento Chapter of APWA in the Parks & Trails category — an award that honors outstanding management, design, sustainability, and the alliance between agency, designer, and contractor that made it all possible. From the adventure playground and ball fields to the bio-retention open space and dog park, every detail of this 12-acre Folsom park was designed with community at the center. A huge thank you to BenEn for doing the heavy lifting on this submission — and to the City of Folsom and our entire project team for making this park something the neighborhood can truly call their own.

Every great park starts with a plan. We're deep in design on Jackrabbit Hill Park — a 12-acre neighborhood park for the City of Folsom's growing Folsom Plan Area. Jackrabbit Hill Park will be programmed for soccer, pickleball, basketball, a children's playground, and community gathering spaces designed for everyone. Building on what we learned from Prospector Park next door, we're bringing the same community-first approach to a park that's built to last — and built to belong.

Good design starts with great relationships. We had a wonderful visit from our QCP rep, Eric Elfrink, who brought in some of their newest precast concrete and site furnishing products for the team to explore. Staying inspired, staying current, and always looking for the right fit for our projects. This is how we bring the best to every park and public space we design. ✏️🪑

Some of our most meaningful work happens in the places that need it most. Knights Landing Community Park brought a long-awaited public space to a rural, underserved Yolo County community — built through direct community engagement from master planning all the way to construction. The result: ball fields, a river steamboat–themed play area, and gathering spaces that give this community a park to call its own. Designs That Unite.

At Elliott Springs, a 651-home master planned community in Elk Grove, WDS led the Park Master Plan from vision through construction, delivering Veninga Park and Cattails Creek Park as anchors for everyday connection.
