A recent visit to the DSNY District 3 Garage in Brooklyn, for which we were landscape subconsultants to for this new facility, allowed us to take stock of the green roof planting there. A certified LEED Silver project, we were very happy to see it thriving as it’s waking up from its winter dormancy. A shallow tray system featuring a predominantly Sedum palette, the modules cover approximately 1.14 acres of the roof deck and provide some measure of thermal insulation to the building below as well as a degree of stormwater holding capacity.
