We wrapped up this project awhile back, and the results still make us smile. The wood‑grain laminate countertops brought in such a beautiful layer of texture, instantly giving the space more warmth and personality. The subtle blue woven through the pattern pairs effortlessly with the cabinets, tying everything together in a way that feels both intentional and inviting. It’s a simple upgrade, but the transformation speaks for itself.

Looking back at one of our favorite transformations — a full kitchen refresh that completely changed the way this home felt. From outdated and cramped to bright, functional, and beautifully customized, this project still stands out as a reminder of why we love what we do.

Every remodel tells a story, and this one will always be a favorite chapter.

Behind the scenes, we’ve been working on a huge transformation using KCD’s now‑discontinued Shaker Espresso. The space has completely changed, and we can’t wait to show you how this classic style shines one last time.

Come back soon — the full reveal is almost here!

This week we’re showing some love to one of our favorite lunch spots — Staggs! Our team can’t get enough of their food, and we wanted to learn more about the people behind it. We contacted the owners and asked them five questions, and we hope you enjoy getting to know them as much as we did.

Q: What's your personal connection to Rushville?
A: I was born and raised in Rushville. My father owned a construction company and my momma did hair out of our family home. Stagg's was my very first job at 14 years old.

Q. What Stagg's traditions are you keeping the same?
A. I opened the restaurant back up using some of the original recipes that have been around for over 60 years. The Sloppy Joe is Avanelle Stagg's recipe. The Big Boy was created by Gary and Carol Ann made the best Coleslaw. I will always carry these recipes on! We also love being able to bring back the nostalgia of ice cream after ball games.

Q. What's something people don't know about running a place like Staggs?
A. Basically it's nothing more than putting out one million tiny fires on a daily basis. Those fires only happen when the lobby is packed and the tickets are stacked. I take pictures of almost every fire so I can go back and laugh. It's not even a little funny when it's happening. This is a costly venture 😁 Cost of goods to feed people quality food makes this almost not even worth my time but it's in my heart! Uncle Sam seems to think he's the #1 employee I've got! This industry is hard. Hard on your mind, your body, your time. You simply have to love this line of work to make a career out of it.

Q. What message do you want to share with the Rushville community?
A. I want my community to know that I appreciate the support from the bottom of my heart. My repeat customers that I can call by name make this all worth it!! Our community needs options for family dining and I'm thankful I can provide one of those places. Also, this is just the beginning for us. Stagg's is our start and Corey's is where we continue.........stay tuned✌️

Q. What's your favorite menu item personally?
A. 2 things. I love the Breaded Chicken Sandwich with mayo, lettuce, and cheese! My son created a Smash Burger that's our #1 seller and I could eat one daily!!

Learning more about Staggs made us appreciate this hometown favorite even more. The history, the heart, and the hard work behind the scenes shine through in every answer. We’re grateful for the honesty, the humor, and the love they pour into serving Rushville — and we’re excited to see what’s next for their growing story!
