A great few days at the NEHES Fall Conference for the NEC Business Development team.

Between conversations with healthcare professionals from across New England and a closer look at what’s shaping the industry, the team came back with fresh perspective and plenty of new connections.

48,000 square feet of hospice renovation. Three separate imaging center builds. A community health center that opened the door for 14,000 new patients.

Healthcare construction asks something different of a general contractor: building MRI suites to exact shielding specs, coordinating phased renovations while a facility stays fully operational, and delivering on compressed timelines because patients and providers cannot wait.

That range of work has shaped how our team approaches every healthcare project. At the Imaging Institute, we built Rhode Island's only facility to house Open MRI, CT Scan, X-Ray, Mammography and DEXA Bone Density under one roof. For Home and Hospice Care of Rhode Island, we turned a four-story building into 24 inpatient hospice units, full administration space, a chapel, and family resource areas, earning the first LEED Gold certified healthcare facility in the state.

Every project reinforced something we carry into the next one: occupied environments, sensitive equipment, and strict regulatory standards are where healthcare construction starts, and the partner you choose needs to already be fluent in all three.

Good conversations, new connections and a few familiar faces along the way.

Our BD team had a great time at ERAPPA meeting higher ed professionals from across the region and hearing more about what’s happening on their campuses. Getting together in person, trading ideas and learning from the people doing this work every day is always time well spent.

Still thinking about everything we took in at HubSpot UNBOUND last week.

Our BD + Marketing team spent a few days getting a closer look at what’s coming next from one of our favorite platforms, digging into where marketing is headed, and hearing some genuinely interesting perspectives on AI, creativity, connection and how the way we work continues to evolve.

There’s a lot coming from HubSpot that we’re excited to put to work at NEC, and just as many ideas we brought home with us.

And when Cynthia Erivo, Tom Brady and Mel Robbins are part of the conversation, you leave with a little more than a page of notes. Plenty of perspective, motivation and fresh thinking to bring back to the team.

A few days very well spent. Now comes the fun part: putting it all into practice.

Over the years, our work on this campus has taken us just about everywhere. Residence halls, student spaces, administrative offices and everything in between. Each project brings a different scope, a different set of conditions and a new challenge to solve within a busy campus environment.

That range has made us a better partner. We know how to step into different spaces, understand what each project requires and deliver within the tight window of a Summer Slammer schedule.

The best measure of that work is simple: being invited back to do it again.
