This customer recently had a 22kW Generac Generator installed by another dealer. Unfortunately the unit was shipped with an engine that had defective piston rings causing engine oil to build up in the air filter compartment. Since this is an internal failure, the engine needed to be replaced.

Due to her dealer not being an authorized Service Dealer, they were unable to provide any warranty work and only able to do basic maintenance . After some research, she found Protek Electric was in her area and able to get the engine covered under her warranty.

Generac makes an excellent product. Unfortunately like everything else on the market, bad apples get past the assembly lines. Fortunately, they have amazing customer service, dealer support and stand by their products! We were able to get a new engine sent to us in about a week and got it replaced in about 4 hours.

If you are in the market for a generator, regardless of brand, please make sure your dealer is an authorized Service Dealer. We have been factory trained to preform major repairs on these units and only Service Dealers are authorized to make these repairs under your warranty.
